Isaac Hayes Quits 'South Park'
http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/P/PEOPLE_ISAAC_HAYES?SITE=AZTUC&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT

NEW YORK (AP) -- Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.

You had to of seen this coming, but at the same time it is interesting that this guy had done plenty of shows where other faiths were poked at, but then again the scientology show might have been the last straw.

2. It's sad how people can...
defend freedom of speech, but only until someone targets their little group. How many seasons of SP has Hayes done? And only now he has a problem.

Fuck Isaac Hayes. Bring back that "Derp" guy!

5. What's your problem..

If he doesn't enjoy it, he has a right to quit.

8. Yes, he does...
have the right to quit! Just as dorkulon has a right to voice his opinion (which I happen to share.) Not being religious, I don't have the problem of getting all righteous only when my faith is ridiculed. Everything is fair game in South Park. Amurika should be more like that, eh?

10. Sure, and that includes the right to quit.

So I don't see why it's an issue. Maybe they can find someone better to make another character in this show.

4. This says it all....
"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying "He has no problem - and he's cashed plenty of checks - with our show making fun of Christians."

snip

Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

-------

I wonder if Mr Hayes was told by the Scientologists to resign from South Park.
