does the media quote pat robertson just to piss us all off?
why, why, why after all these years does the mainstream media STILL quote pat robertson's mad ravings? do they do it to show that our nation has the most insane religious leaders in all the world? do they really want us to believe that this man's ravings represent christian america? why do they always quote him, and actually invite him and jerry falwell to come on and comment on world news?

pat is either pissing off gays, non christians, meteorologists or god him/her self by pretending to speak for him/her. the man is nothing but a shitty huckster who has been allowed to rip off the stupid for decades, and who does nothing but stir up hatred and rage amongst his deluded donating dummies.

please mainstream media, stop supporting this maniac, dubya makes us look idiotic enough thank you.

1. Osama Bin Robertson threatened the State Department and nothing happened
to him. So I suppose they want us to think that the Taliban is bad, but the Taliborn is good?

5. Yes, it sure does distract a bit from the REAL major issues doesn't it?
As for making Repubs like bad, real extremists like him, Falwell and our own Dem nut case minister (the one who protested against gays at a soldiers funeral last year who's name escapes me at this early hour sans coffee) mostly only make themselves look bad and totally wacko unless the party they have chosen to associate themselves embraces them. Every now and then I wonder if perhaps a few of these extreme extremists sign up for a political party to either deliberately make that party either look bad or in an attempt at some sort of shock or aversion therapy...

ah well... I'm off to get caffeinated. ;-)

6. Robertson Is A Billionaire
Edited on Fri Jan-06-06 07:03 AM by mntleo2
True he got it all off the poor, the disillusioned, the illiterate, and the desperate, but hey, aren't we little guys all supposed to be absolutely mesmerized with billionaire's lifestyles and every single breath they take??? All these entitled hypocrites have to do is breathe the name Jeeeeezus and tax break in the same breath and the media faints in awe.

You know, I learned in the '80s while supporting El Salvadorian refugees that there is this ridiculous concept that God somehow loves the rich more than the poor. I used to believe this was a "third world" concept, but now I know it also resides here. Giving any credence to the rich and to religious nuts is a sick and dangerous pastime because it entitles people who have no business nor any right to mandate what the rest of us need or want.

For one thing, if these people actually read scripture that they could not twist, they would find God lives, not in gated communities and bloated churches with 35,000 members, but in the common person ~ and dare I say it? God lives in everyone. Hell is a concept that does not exist except to be used to terrify in order to line the pockets of greedy revival preachers. I am here to witness that I have seen the profile of God, not only in small churches working for social justice, but in other people's faith, in Hindus, at the mosque during Ramadan, in a child's smile and in a junkie's eyes. I am here to tell you, they are far closer to God than some rich minister like Pat Robertson who has not only created his own hell, he has made life hell for many innocents. His prophet Jesus said right out in front that it is harder for the rich to get into heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle. Robertson does not know a damn thing about heaven, he only creates hell on earth, and so does his cohorts.

I would also like to include in this critique not only right wing christians, but any religious nut case that walks this earth. Rich religious conservatives are a plague and THEY are the real terrorists the scriptures speak about, IMO.

Cat In Seattle <---who loves God with all my heart and works for peace in myself, my family and for the world ~ and boy there is a lot of work to do!
