Katherine Harris may be throwing in the towel, dropping out of race.

I love it.

A not very upbeat article this morning in my local (Central Florida) newsrag says she will have a formal announcement next week. She has been cancelling appearances lately and keeping a low profile since the MZM story broke. She never really had the support of her own party. They would have preferred someone else to run in her place but they didn't want to offend her so badly that she would blow the whistle on the GOP and their Y2K selection conspiracy.

Article: http://www.theledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060312/NEWS/603120359/1134

It took a while but she got her payback. I love the fact that the GOP in effect turned their back on her. I sort of wish she would stay in the race all the way. I'd love to see her suffer a humiliating defeat for her prominent role in the grand theft of the Y2K election. If it wasn't for her part in it we would now have a lawfully elected president in his second term and we wouldn't be embarrassed on the world scene with this idiot we now have.

If I remember correctly she's the granddaughter of Flordia Citrus King Ben Hill Griffith...for whom the stadium at University of Florida is named.

Otherwise, I hope she stays in the race...

A lot of Bushshit will come out if he does and if McBride almost beat him, then Nelson could probably do it with one hand tied behind his back.

I have had to put up with that smug son of a bitch for 8 years. He is a powerful campaigner and knows all the right money men.

He would give Nelson a run and could very well beat him.

17. The late Buddy Hackett would not have been effective as Hamlet.
Katherine Harris does not make a good public servant.

She's essentially a perfumed tyrant, operating on about the level of a catty 8th grader. Evil Barbie. Bush stooge. I will never forget her up in New Hampshire before that state's primary in 2000, handing otu Florida strawberries to support Bush. John McCain whomped the Bush effort that year in New Hampshire, but as Bush climbed back into the race by smearing McCain in South Carolina, Harris withdrew to Florida to rig the election against Gore.

I just won't miss her at all. I wonder if she will retain her Congressional seat if she drops out.

19. The problem is Florida
She would likely have suffered a narrow win or a narrow loss, but never a crushing defeat. There are too many rednecks in Florida, especially in the Panhandle, which is where her soft Congressional seat is. The GOP thought Congress and a fat Congressional pension should have been adequate payback for selling the country out in 2000 and never would have supported her fully. She's OK for the House, in other words, but would have been too much of a lightning rod as one of two Senators.

42. Doesn't it include Sarasota? Definately not Panhandle territory but
almost as conservative - which was the point I believe. Have any strong candidates stepped up to run for her House seat? If she decides to try to hang onto the seat it would be sweet if she failed at that as well.

Edited on Sun Mar-12-06 10:53 AM by Divernan
They are way too long - adjusted for someone with much longer legs. She just posed for the picture. On the other hand W the Arrogant is too afraid of horses to even pose on one.

And riding a trotting horse with those fake boobs would bounce her around so much she's probably rip one or both of them out of position! Dropping out of the race, so to speak.

36. As I already posted on another thread,
she may have a lot of faults, but she does more or less know how to stay on a horse:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=364&topic_id=631277&mesg_id=634689

Anyway, I hope she does stay in the race. Nelson should have no problems beating her, she's the easiest opponent we can hope for. I would much rather see her humiliated by the defeat than to just pull out now and just go back to the House without getting what's coming to her.
