So Democrats and liberals have destroyed the fabric of our society, eh?
I am fed up with hearing this. Our values are under attack, our morals are in decay and our society is sick. I read another piece this morning (not available on-line I'm afraid) that firmly assigned the blame for all the ills in America to liberals and the Democratic party in particular. The balls!

I was born just days after a general election. In my lifetime I have had 26 years of Republicans in the White House to 12 years with Democrats. Not bad considering it represents 5 different Republicans and only two Democrats. Remind me why the Republicans are whining again?

Okay sure, in six congresses the Republicans held the majority in the House compared to 13 held by the Democrats. And Republicans held the Senate eight times while the Democrats had it 11. But the Republicans have held pretty solid control for the last six congresses. That's twelve years of pretty ineffective representation if people are still bitching about liberals. Ineffective representation but damned good politics.

Lest we forget, we have a third branch of government. Three chief justices have been sworn in during my lifetime. All were Republican appointees. Eleven associate justices (twelve really, but one is already in the chief justice list) have been appointeed to the highest court in the land. All but two were appointed by Republicans. Considering the Executive branch has the duty of nominating federal judges I'm going to hazard a guess that more appointments were made over a 26 year period than over a 12 year period. Where the hell did the plethora of liberal activist judges come from? Late life epiphanies?

I'm wrapping up an abridged audio version of Clinton's book My Life right now. It's very good and I highly recommend it. I like listening to autobiographies read by the author. Their voices often tell you more than the printed word. At one point he talks about the nationalization of mid-term elections under Newt Gingrich with the Contract for America. He's right when he says that Gingrich & Co. completely changed the nature of mid-term electioneering. Alright Democrats, put the lead in it and catch up with the times. Know your local climate but for Heaven's sake give us a national message of positive action. Now!

4. Illusion of motion
Early twentieth century planners figured out how to control the public mind at work, and more importantly, outside of work. The devil, so to speak, lie in the many nuanced details of how that has panned out.

What is propagandistically deemed "liberal" or "progressive" is a natural, life affirming condition of individuated and collective consciousness. Power had to figure out how to control people - get them to suppress those natural inclanations - because power could no longer rely on the Big Stick ..so they developed the Big Lie, and over the decades, have implemented it against us in countless ways -- much of which is so horrifying because it's actually people choosing and accepting it through their own coerced volition.

2. I think a lot of the social ills that some people blame Democrats
and liberals for are due to 2 factors.

One, a lot of social ills that have existed for decades, for centuries, even, weren't talked about until the last few decades. Including, but not limited to: incest, domestic violence, date rape, etc.

You don't know there are maggots under a rock until you turn the rock over.

The second factor is the way that Madison Avenue and the mainstream media keep "pushing the envelope"--in the attempt to get their audience's attention. What was sexy and/or shocking last year is old hat this year. And it goes on and on.

5. How does that explain how "liberal/democrats" are ruining the
country?

The pukes have had congress and the senate for 12+ years. The agenda is to consolidate power. Period.

They may talk about national security, traditional values, small government, personal freedom and the rule of law but it's just talk.

They demonize anyone and everyone who threatens their agenda. Even their own.

7. That's what gives me a nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach.
It's power consolidation, to hell with the rest of us.

8. They're not.
I think you're thinking of politicians and I'm thinking of the average Americans.

And yes, the neocons who have gotten into power now do demonize everyone who threatens their agenda.

3. Just face the facts. We are living in a parallel universe where nothing
makes any sense. Just like theoretical physicists are telling us, we are just one universe among many, and in OURS, the assholes rule, common sense goes out the window, and people are more concerned with the size of their asses than with children being abused and slaughtered in war...

Anybody know of a good rabbit hole I can tumble down???
