The SD abortion law was passed to be 'red meat' for '06 - what if we
didn't go there right now. They want it as a campaign issue to turn out the frothy mouthed based all across the nation because it's the only way they can get them to the polls given the lying, incompetence and ignoring the laws. They want groups to challenge it in the courts, thinking their salvation is in Roberts/Alito's hands. This is their payback for all the years of planning, scheming and funding.

What if we didn't challenge the law so that they didn't have it as an issue to use. Why do we keep playing the game by the rules they set? Last year some 800 abortions occured in SD, with the various stays and other legal wranglings - I doubt that anyone will have access to that choice the balance of this year. There are other options available, perhaps Planned Parenthood and other groups could provide transport and education to women who need help in obtaining out of state services.

Meanwhile, we starve the beast - boycotts of both their tourism (and letting them know why we decided to vacation somewhere else) and boycotts of the specific products and services that are produced there (also letting them know why we purchased from a competitor)

And instead of focusing on the potential short term gains by doing the expected court challenges - what if we just left it alone - switched gears to help the women affected - and focused our energy/time/money on taking back the gov't with such strong majorities that we could actually do a Constitutional amendment guaranteeing privacy - and be done with these culture war/drive them to the polls issues

3. I Figure the GOP Itself Will Be Red Meat
The political adeptness of the GOP is not improving; if anything, the process has broken down so much that even the most blindly loyal must admit that the GOP needs to clean its own house before anything else progresses.

But by all means, the pressure for change must continue from outside, as well as inside.

4. I'm thinkin you are right. Lie to the American people
seriously- just like Bush and the republicans do. Say abortion should be
a state issue and then tell them it's illegal to desicrate the flag.
Take those two issues off the table! Then once the election is over say
ooops we lied, just like republicans do, then fight to strengthen abortion
rights and everyother diversion issue.

8. I'm not saying lie to them. Just don't play their game, don't make
a court challenge over this until after November
