Predictable Boogeyman
Can we please come up with something other than the *DLC? It's getting boring Can't we find another group to pile on for a change? Or no group at all? The flaws in the dem party are far more complex than the influence of the DLC.

*Important disclaimer: I am not a fan of the DLC, however I think they've become convenient shorthand for a certain type of politics that most here deplore. The DLC is not some Svengali holding a Trilby like dem party in its thrall.

1. After the DNC wakes up and realizes their DLC buddies are losers
and should never dictate party policy, then we can start attacking the GOP full time.

While the DLC controls the party platform, the party has no chance of winning anything but incremental and temporary gains against the GOP.

Conservatives are the problem, not the solution. While they're dictating the platform, it doesn't matter how bad the GOP is. We have no hope of countering them.

2. Bad apples and a bad idea
When the worm is what you see on TV and giving advice and attacking the healthy parts of the apple and it rules as a predator that is one thing. That example and acceptance by the party in general is pernicious and rotting by itself. Certain individuals come to mind more than the infected healthy parts we try to bite into. But instead of the worms it seems more powerful to curse the apple or Hillary or Bayh , etc. It is corruption and poor judgment at play there from which worse things spread. The actual malignancies are a few worms in the DLC sub structure who many people here do not bother to name.

The other thing is the ruling ideology or some such of the "Third Way" something sprung from triangulation or some other inappropriate tactic analogy. That creates the "new" natural order where there is a big apple supinely hosting the superior being, the worm. There are so many things fundamentally flawed with this driving down the middle of the road that language fails one for lack of space and superabundance of critical analogies. It is a dooming overview and is so faithfully adhered to as to render its loyal group impotent to any conceivable goal other than empowering the RW. That idea too is larger than the DLC, its organizational offshoot, but minuscule in value compared to the real qualities and achievements of some really ill advised muddled Dems.

Is it an octopus, a nefarious plot and a globalist neoliberal elite? Who cares? In some ways it would be less humiliating were all the big names sometimes raked mercilessly over the coals really were that plotting and cold. The cement mixer is rolling out good intentions onto the road. Who was the guy who said it leads to hell? Must have been an FDR liberal. Times have changed. The Third Way will get us there better. But it won't get much of a chance because it's damned silly.

It doesn't have to be an evil confection. The people don't have to be supervillains or even GOP trolls. The results we know better than the personal judgments and the results are bad no matter how good the DLC is or how destructive. At any rate, the real proof is the general attitude of people here(despite the hardcore rants) of keeping an open cooperative mind to less progressive Dems while the other side is deaf dumb and outright hostile. Apparently they have not enough faith in their way to suffer the demonstration of liberalism, etc, without losing their way, so to speak.

I agree that we can do away with some of the scapegoating and demonizing of people who might think of their base as an impediment rather than the popular foundation. We can do away with furthering their ideas and personal ambitions at all. Better to build up people who build the future of the party the best way in pointed disregard of people who unfortunately need to practice some accountability before they deign to engage in their own empty power plays. Lack of reward is their punishment. Establishing real accountability for people like Smoking Joe is setting things straight enough.
