Okay, I know it's DRUDGE but
Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 09:32 PM by Nutmegger
What's up with this new "story" about Hilary Clinton?

They're so cocky hiding behind their Diebold machines.

President Bush and his top strategist, Karl Rove, say Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be tough to beat in the Democratic presidential primaries of 2008 -- but not in the general election!

There is a “brittleness about her” that could prove a weakness in November 2008.

But Rove added that the “hard-driving” Clinton will easily vanquish Democratic primary rivals like New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner, who are merely “preening for the vice presidential slot.”

“She is the dominant player on their side of the slate,” Rove said of Clinton. “Anybody who thinks that she’s not going to be the candidate is kidding themselves.”

Bush vowed to refrain from anointing a GOP successor, saying: “I won’t be involved in picking.” Still, he had praise for his brother, Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who insists he is not running for president.

Although the president’s name will never appear on another ballot, he said he wants Republicans to keep winning elections.

“We should be the party in power because we’ve got ideas,” he said. “As opposed to a party that’s against everything, we’re for things.”

2. Apparently
Rove said that Hilliary will win the Democratic primary but will fail in the general election. The overall tone made me think of DIEbold. :scared:

7. It is obvious that Clinton is a winner. Otherwise they would not be
calling her angry one week (back-fired) and then a looser the next.

She is obviously a winner who must show her anger at how the country has been ****** to win.

5. Ignoring that Rove wins by changing the thinking of muricans - by
attacking our strongest leader and turning their greatest strength into a weakness. If Hillary is being portrayed as a "looser" - she must in reality (in Rove's eyes) be a winner.

See! It is all so simple!!!

6. LOL because he's already fixed the Dem primary & Gen. Election to
assure this result... No procrastinator, he!

Seriously though, it does say something when the #1 slime operator of the GOP makes clear his preference for the Dem nominee.

Hillary is who the REPUKES want to win so they can DESTROY HER in the General election. Little do they know she's not going to be our candidate.;)

15. It's a Drudge "exclusive" about a book written by Bill Sammon....
and the whole point seems to be to bash Hillary and the Dems in general. Here's the intro:

President Bush and his top strategist, Karl Rove, say Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will be tough to beat in the Democratic presidential primaries of 2008 -- but not in the general election!

MORE

Reporter Bill Sammon, who joins the WASHINGTON EXAMINER as Senior White House Correspondent, is set to launch his new book, STRATEGERY.

In the Book, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned, Rove is quoted on the-record and is unleashed on Hillary:

There is a “brittleness about her” that could prove a weakness in November 2008

_______

how cute that they think Hillary can't win a general against...wait a sec, who are THEY running? They don't even know. They can't control McCain which means he's out. They can try to out woman Hillary with Condi, but will their base vote for someone who's African-American AND a woman? I highly doubt it for obvious reasons. Dick "shoot a man in the face" Cheney doesn't have the heart for it (literally), Delay is up to his ears in legal trouble, Hastert is, well, Hastert and Frist is too fucking dumb. Who do they have?

But hey, if they think Hillary is too "brittle" (which is HILARIOUS given what she has endured over the years) then so be it. Hillary has been their biggest fear since 2002 and I welcome them spending their money challenging her. My wish is for her to keep them guessing (and spending their cash) 'till the very last minute and not run just to piss them off. But that's just me....

Edited on Sun Feb-26-06 10:10 PM by Clark2008
We folks in the purple and/or hope-to-turn-our-red-state-blue states KNOW Hillary isn't a winner. She is in New York, but not in the fly-overs.

PS. You're in Texas? And think Hillary has a shot in hell? (I just read your profile). You must live in Austin or something. Seriously, why do you think this? I'm not flaming you, I just don't understand that thinking as a blue voter in a red state, myself.

20. P.S. - congrats on reading my profile.
Now if you could kindly re-read my post and tell me where I said Hillary "had a chance in hell" I would appreciate it. I gave no opinion of her as a candidate, I just said she was not brittle...which she isn't. I just think it's funny that the republicans are wasting time, energy and money fighting someone who has not declared her candidacy (just like they did when she thought she would run in 2004) and they're doing it without a candidate of their own. Like my last line said, I would love for them to waste their money fearing Hillary and her not run again.

To clarify, I'm a Dean and/or Clark gal. If I can't have either of them, then the very least I want is someone who isn't DLC. And yes, I'm from Austin but I don't know any political Austinite who thinks more of the same is the way to go. So be nice! :P

17. I'm sure they already have a massive smear campaign planned
Hillary is a lesbian. Hillary has a love child. Hillary had an affair with Vince Foster. Hillary murdered Vince Foster. Hillary is strident. Hillary is a Commie. Hillary fools around. Hillary had an abortion. Hillary raped Ken Starr. It's going to be really awful, and one fears that Democratic Party won't even have a plan of action until it's too late.

21. Al Gore would win handily over Clinton in a Dem primary . . .
there are others who would also do well, but Gore (if he stays on his new message) would be an easy win . . . particularly if he refused all corporate money and funded his campaign exclusively through donations from individual Americans and their representatives (e.g. unions) . . .

34. Drudge/Rove also called her a "liberal"
How do they get that? A former Goldwater Girl married to the most conservative democrat president in at least 80 years, with a solid pro-war, DLC voting record in the senate? Whose "health care plan" was crafted specifically to be a huge giveaway to the gouging health insurance industry?

She may be bright and not quite a neocon, but she's anything but a liberal.
