New “Patriot” Act Creates American Gestapo
Hitler had the brownshirts- his Gestapo that went around the country taking out dissenters. The New "Patriot" Act creates a new American Gestapo: (Section 605)

"There is hereby created and established a permanent police force, to be known as the `United States Secret Service Uniformed Division’. Subject to the supervision of the Secretary of Homeland Security…"

The new USSSUD will be in DC, but also everywhere Bush travels, or former Presidents, or heads of state, or even at events labeled a "special event of national significance." (#11)

Has America ever had a federal police force? No. Why do we need one now? To protect us, or to oppress us? It sure looks as if this new police force will be have the authority to arrest anyone that gets too close to a member of Congress. Bush says trust me, it’s for your own protection. Isn’t that exactly what Hitler told Germany?

Section 602 states that Americans can be arrested for interfering with "National Special Security Events". You can even be arrested for conspiring to interfere with an "NSSE"...

4. Well, isn't that special?
What was the wingnutty display in DC this summer? Freedom Fest or some such nonsense. That would be "a special event of national significance," I suppose. Wow. Now we'll have events that look like staged extravaganzas Leni Riefenstahl used to film for Hitler. Like the Nuremburg rally.

Yep, special. :eyes:

5. nice country we're leaving the children...

Under this new draconian law, any event the DHS labels an NSSE opens the door to arresting citizens that dare to speak out. Free Speech, Freedom to Assemble? Not in Bush’s America.

For protesting the actions of our government, a citizen could get 1 year in jail, or up to 10 years if they are carrying a “dangerous weapon” like a sign, or even a video camera

6. Um....
We already have a Secret Service Uniformed Division.

And the U.S. Marshalls Office is a Federal police force, followed by the FBI.

7. My sister works for Homeland...
And I can tell you that right now for their own ground units they mostly train other people. Like the private sector, transporation people, local police -- all trained to act like plainsclothed and undercover agents.

An entire Homeland Security secret police I think from the vantage point of my sister and I and what we've seen from her work seems a little redundant.
