scandal, because Tom Delay was a greedy little Big Boy who wanted to starve Democrats out of power by depriving them of funds. Had the Abramoff scandal followed the normal course of business in DC, there would have been bipartisan corruption and the GOP would not have to send its media whores out now to parse words to make it look like a routine campaign contribution to a Democratic congressman is the same as a bribe to a Republican congressman.

However, even without Delay's rule, I suspect that Abramoff, the rabid Demo-phobe, would have restricted his bribery to members of the GOP. He seems to have had a predilection for juicy Republicans.

If the RNC is so desperate to save face, maybe it should throw Delay to wolves and blame him for all the party's ills. Closing ranks is fine and good, but sometimes you can carry it too far. Delay is like a tumor that has spread throughout the GOP, and until the excise it, the whole party is going to continue to rot.

Seriously, what were the Republicans thinking when they picked a bug killer from Sugarland to be their leader? All those petrochemicals in the air plus the toxins he sprayed probably damaged most of his brain cells. I'll be he is three quarter mutant by now.

PS Federal prosecution of Delay is a freebie since he is going to jail in Texas anyway.

Interesting that the tactics that seemed so effective now almost ensure he will be drawn into this scandal.
