Where are the two Bobs - Woodruff and Woodward?

I haven't heard anything about Woodruff's recovery or status since he was shipped back. I haven't seen or heard (sometimes I think there is a god) about Woodward since he was implicated in Plamegate.

Anyone have any news about the ABC newsman (and his photographer) or the washed-up sell-out?

What an awful fate. I hope he'll recover to some functional degree. They had to take off the top of his skull to allow for brain swelling. Not good. :(

8. I was running errands across town this morning

The radio was set to one of the local NPR stations and was carrying a local show. I got the car started (and the radio on) just as they were ending their chat about Woodruff. All I heard them say was something about keeping him sedated to give his body and mind a chance to heal. I hadn't heard anything about his condition or that of the photographer that was with him in a while.

3. Yesterday, I heard ABC's Cynthia McFadden say Bob Woodruff was still

"heavily sedated," and that they were all just waiting for the day he would be back in the anchor's chair.

Doesn't sound good.

10. I heard on the radio this morning that sedation was being done

to give his body a chance to heal. The thinking is, as long as he's sedated he can use more of his body's energy for healing. Poor guy, he and his companion's fates seem to have dropped off the radar screen.

to communicate with his family. I hope he has good insurance. That "war" clause in most health insurance would allow the insurance company not to cover his medical bills. Maybe the paper will cover the costs.

There would be a mighty outcry if they cut him off over this since he was there on their behalf. I'm sure this has had a profound emotional and mental impact on him, his family and his co-workers. I hope he recovers.

"Democracies die in darkness." This at a speech this week in San Antonio, according to a SA paper:

Woodward said the possibility of "the Mideast imploding," cannot be dismissed, and that his darkest fear, shared by some in the intelligence community, is that terrorists are waiting until "multiple, high-stakes attacks" can be launched on U.S. cities and targets.

He said, "9-11 will be a footnote, but it could happen, and if it does, we will become a police state."

He also said the Repubs could, "depending on how things in Iraq proceed," nominate Cheney for '08??? And discussed his new book, where he "tries to explain" what happened during the "16 months" it took Bush to decide to go to war. As I recall it didn't take 16 months. IIRC on Sept 12 Bush was pressing Richard Clarke and others to link Iraq to the attacks the day before. In Jan or Feb 2002, Bush said "Fuck Saddam. We're taking him out" as quoted in Time mag I think (or was it Newsweek?). The rest of the time was getting ready for the invasion and marketing the war to the public.
