Winston-Salem Journal: Oil Giveaway
Winston-Salem Journal
Oil Giveaway
February 20, 2006

At a time when the multinational oil companies are reporting tens of billions in annual profits, the United States government is about to give oil and natural gas away for free.

And not to the shivering poor ... but to the oil companies that are making the billions of dollars.

There is no better proof than this that the federal government, both Congress and the executive branch, are out of touch with the needs and sentiments of the American people. While a gallon of gas costs about $2.25 at the local pump - down from $3.25 only a few months ago - the price to tap oil from federal fields below the Gulf of Mexico will be zero for the oil companies.

That's fair only in the corrupt halls of the U.S. government. While the president proposes a budget with a $400 billion annual deficit, the government is giving away oil to companies that will sell it for $60 or $70 a barrel.

1. This is another issue that's getting a mixed reception among freepturds.
Some are saying that it will provide incentives to the oil companies to keep prices low, which is the BS talking point being spoon fed to them by the RNC. But many other wing nuts are very upset by this development. Along with the deal to sell our ports to Dubai World, this issue should stay on the front page and "Greatest" page at DU. People surfing in, or otherwise landing at DU, need to see this stuff.

No such thing as a free lunch.

Try and "Free Ride" my commons. I dare ya!

Remember these neo-liberal slogans. Well so much for free market ideology. Corporate welfare to the extreme. Why should I subidize these fat lazy corporations. Welfare Queens!

This is what you should be mad about freepers. Corporate welfare. Nothing else. Otherwise you are traitorous morans. Meanwhile why don't you go bitch and moan about FEMA debit card misuse. Boo Hoo. Boot Straps Boot Straps Boot Straps!

Ask your boss if his company's boot straps are not well lubed in your tax dollars.

6. America is a whore, and the Republicans are the pimps!
Disgraceful!

It seems they will stop at nothing to bring shame on themselves, yet they get away with it...
