"See... New Orleans is FINE! They're having Marti Gras there right now!!"
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 02:39 PM by Blue Belle
This is all I'm seeing on Faux news today. They keep saying how great everyone is happy and there is a great celebration going on.... see how they've bounced right back?? Sure attendance is low... but that's mostly due to the misty weather. Weird how their cameras haven't panned to the greater part of the city still lying in ruins... or the masses of people getting kicked out of their hotels, or the acres of modular homes still vacant and sinking in the mud. But hey, New Orleans is fine now!!

Look for the replay of this footage when the Repub Congress kills the Hurricane Katrina rebuild funding.

1. Fair and Balanced, ya know?
:sarcasm: I wonder how these people( I use the term loosely) at Faux, sleep at night knowing they are only telling not even half the story to their viewing audience? Those salaries must be worth it.

they show one or no pix.

4. They just panned down a street... no varied pictures at all.
It was all the same street... and I don't think it was Bourbon street either. They just showed the small crowds and said they thought the turn out was low due to the misty weather (never mind all those evacuees that haven't been able to return yet). They tried to spin the ULTRA positive, but even their cameras caught the opposite depite the tunnel view attempt.

3. Saw this coming right up Bourbon Street, didn't we?
Focus on the positive.

I hear the schools are open in Baghdad too.

5. i'll tell you why attendance is low
not only is the weather shitty but yesterday they announced the hiring of meter maids and tow trucks to take away your car while you're at the parade, the meter maids were always a plague on the town and now is not the time to be harassing people w. this crap, we don't need the risk of an unexpected expense

eff em, i'll stay home then and have my own party

i know the city needs revenue but to have a big ticket/tow push like this the week before mardi gras weekend, that is just sick and sorry

if you're fox news, then your employer is paying your $15 a night parking fee along w. your hotel room

this is more a suburban local's complaint, i suppose, but the lack of public transportation combined w. how quick they are to ticket or tow, it is really one of the big reasons that many locals won't attend mardi gras, etc.

people who live across the bridge can't take a chance w. having their car towed because then they could not get home, indeed, a few years back a young man from mandeville was shot dead trying to remove his car from the orleans tow lot, now the young man was wrong to go and try to collect his car w.out paying, but it isn't just like he could hop on a bus or a train and get home, you just can't do w.out your car here

and right now a GREAT many of the displaced are on the northshore and are not in any position to risk having a car towed and held by orleans parish

9. Yes... but that's just it.
If you hadn't of posted this piece of info I never would have known that the lack of public transportation was so bad in New Orleans.
