Feingold will be on Real Time w/Bill Maher tomorrow night~

Russ is going to be on the season premiere of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher tomorrow, February 17, at 10 PM CT (Encore presentation on Monday, February 20, at 7 PM CT). He'll talk to Bill on a variety of topics including the latest on the PATRIOT Act.

On that issue, please be sure to check out the latest op-ed from Russ over at salon.com. He discusses the bad Patriot Act "deal" that a number of Democrats have agreed to and asks the question: "If Democrats aren't going to stand up to an executive who disdains the other branches of government and doesn't worry about trampling on the rights of innocent Americans, what do we stand for?" P.S. Just so everyone knows, contrary to an erroneous news report that's floating around both on the internet and in some papers this morning, Russ will continue to oppose this flawed PATRIOT Act deal, insist that the Senate jump through every procedural hoop, and demand the right to offer amendments to improve it.

If you want to know how bad this PATRIOT Act "deal" is, take a look at what Judiciary Chairman Arlen Specter said in response to a reporter's question yesterday: "When Senator Feingold says that , he happens to be right... Sometimes cosmetics will make a beauty out of the beast and provide enough cover for senators to change their votes."

This is a bad deal by any standards and Russ will continue to lead the fight to fix it.
