What If Whittington Had Accidentally Shot Cheney? >>>

What would have happened then?

The Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial, where Harry Whittington is hospitalized, is seen in Corpus Christi, Texas. Harry Whittington, the 78-year-old lawyer US Vice President Dick Cheney accidentally shot while hunting, suffered a minor heart attack Tuesday after pieces of birdshot lodged in his heart, doctors said.(AFP/Getty Images/File/Joe Mitchell)

2. probably? Try definitely.
I find it hard to imagine that Whittington wouldn't have been killed by the Secret Service were the roles reversed.

19. Ah, but 9/11 changed everything, you know?
He'd have died of overweight - two extra pounds of 9mm lead is bad for the heart.

4. Completely the opposite reaction...
Cheney would've been airlifted to the best hospital within 5 minutes of the shooting.

Whitt, on the other hand, had to wait almost 3 HOURS before getting to a hospital with an adequate trauma unit.

6. He did?
First I've heard that. Because they took him to the smaller hospital first?

9. Because they kept trying to convince him he was ok? or..
picking the shot out so it wouldn't look so bad when they got him to the hospital?

14. That's what was said on Sunday...
According to this article:
<snip>
Although the incident occurred at 5.30pm, Whittington was not admitted to the nearby Corpus Christi Memorial hospital until 8.15pm. He was treated for birdshot injuries to the neck, chest and face, and was said to be in good condition and good spirits.

8. On a related topic
What if you shot your pal hunting? Do you think you'd have to grab some food, get a drink, and on the way out, tell the owner of the establishment where said shooting occurred to tie up the loose ends?

10. "Lemon fish with two kinds of fruit, served in paradise."
I suspect that if Whittington shot Cheney, we'd be bombarded with non-stop "investigative reports" connecting Whittington to Saddam, that single, elusive link to Iraq and 9/11...

16. Lynne would be crying a la Mrs. Scalito, 24/7 on TV
We'd see Darth's grieving-yet-hopeful family, including the little, blonde grandchildren, on bended knees, praying for Darth. :eyes: There would be calls for vigils around the countryside. Snotty would never stop yapping in gaggles about the tragedy. You know, pretty much the opposite of what we've seen so far.

There would be nothing but finely ground meat for forensics to pick up.

18. honestly?
i think the two old drunks would have circled the wagons just as they did

i do not see the secret service blasting away whittington over an obvious hunting accident

i think it would have happened exactly the same, unless cheney were truly injured badly enough that he couldn't stop the secret service and ambulance crew from getting immediate help, in which case the whole blood alcohol drinkin w. guns issue would be front & center instead of just whispers
