How will the White House spin their lies about the 'peppering' attack?
Their meme was that it was just a few BBs making Mr. Whittington look like he had measles. Now we find out the BIG BBs are lodged in his heart and caused his heart to malfunction (ironic that he got this from Cheney, the ultimate heart malfunction).

What will the spin be?

1. The story is developing and we don't have any information (and the BBs were teleported into his heart in a secret plot by Iran. Terra, terra, terra.)

2. We just received word from the Vice President's office that Cheney was eating dinner when he heard his good friend Whittington laugh about having a heart attack because a BB mysteriously appeared in his heart.

3. Mr. Whittington is old and his heart is failing - this incident is unrelated to Mad Dog Cheney shooting the man.

4. The Constitution says the Executive SHALL lie to the public at every opportunity. Let me introduce AG Gonzales, who will explain the legal theory behind this....

5. No comment. White House press briefings will cease as of today.

3. I'd guess all of the above, and probably in that order.
My only hope is that some day they will spin themselves into a huge abyss, a black hole where they will disappear forever.

Hope springs eternal!

5. Classic example of where honesty is the best policy
I think it was Mark Twain who said, always tell the truth and you will never have to remember anything. If cheney had any integrity, he would step to the microphone and tell the whole truth, but he has no integrity. And as bush backers would ask, if you have nothing to hide ...

6. A post here yesterday
quoted an ICU physician who has had experience with birdshot wounds. He said that if all the pellets were not removed, they could move to other parts of the body. He used as an example a young man who was shot in the upper torso who wound up losing a foot because a pellet got lodged in the artery near the ankle, stopping the flow of blood to the foot.

I'm hoping that Cheney's victim gets better, but I'm wondering if, perhaps, it has always been worse than has been announced.

7. I'm thinking No. 3 ...
If Whittington dies, it will be determined that he had a pre-existing condition, totally unrelated to the shooting.

And then, after a few weeks, it will be spun into:

"While enjoying a quiet dinner, VP Cheney accidentally sprayed Whittington with pepper while seasoning his food. After Whittington accidentally swallowed an uncrushed peppercorn, it lodged itself in his heart, which later proved to be fatal.

Whittington's TWO mistresses, BOTH of whom accompanied him for a weekend of hunting, mourn his passing ..."

8. OK I'm starting to think something really fishy is going on
Pellets in his heart? The spread on those shells is not that great. He blasted that guy from fairly close up. How the hell did that happen?

9. I don't think the story will have to be spun at all by the White House,
The first 15 threads in the general discussion are all about Cheney, and this accident. That is all this was, an accident. In the mean time, while this story is plastered all over the news and discussion boards the real world is still happening. It has already gone from a hunting accident, to "evidence" of the bush administration's black heart. That is going to go over like a fart in church with the majority of the country, are we trying to get people to think like us, or prove that we are not thinking? What do you think will be happening behind the cloak of the "shotgun blast to the face" story? This was an accident, not a smoke screen, but becoming target fixated on this makes it a "bonus" smoke screen for the republican party.

Cheney went bird hunting in Texas, while not following the golden rule of hunting "be sure of your target, and what lies beyond" he accidentaly shot his hunting partner. His hunting partner was taken to XXX hospital, the 78 year old male has extensive injuries from shotgun pellets to his face and neck. THOSE ARE THE ONLY FACTS THAT ARE RELAVANT.

Cheney will not resign, be charged with murder, be fired, run out of town or face a vigilante mob of senior citizens. This will have NO negative effect politically, in fact in my own opnion the reaction could very well be supportive for not only the 78 year old man but for Cheney. There are a lot of hunters out there who have had similar accidents, been peppered, or peppered somebody else. This accident is horrible, but it does happen, and those of us who are avid hunters know it.

The jokes connecting the misconduct of the administration, and this hunting accident do us no good. I think the best thing is to wish for a speedy recovery for the 78 year old man, point out the obvious lack of attention Cheney was paying to his fellow hunters.......... and get back to what matters! Anybody who thinks this will bring, Bush or Cheney down is dreaming. This is a horrible, preventable accident but 24/7 coverage will have no advantage for Democrats, nor will making light of a serious accident.
