The first 15 threads in the general discussion are all about Cheney, and this accident. That is all this was, an accident. In the mean time, while this story is plastered all over the news and discussion boards the real world is still happening. It has already gone from a hunting accident, to "evidence" of the bush administration's black heart. That is going to go over like a fart in church with the majority of the country, are we trying to get people to think like us, or prove that we are not thinking? What do you think will be happening behind the cloak of the "shotgun blast to the face" story? This was an accident, not a smoke screen, but becoming target fixated on this makes it a "bonus" smoke screen for the republican party.
Cheney went bird hunting in Texas, while not following the golden rule of hunting "be sure of your target, and what lies beyond" he accidentaly shot his hunting partner. His hunting partner was taken to XXX hospital, the 78 year old male has extensive injuries from shotgun pellets to his face and neck. THOSE ARE THE ONLY FACTS THAT ARE RELAVANT.
Cheney will not resign, be charged with murder, be fired, run out of town or face a vigilante mob of senior citizens. This will have NO negative effect politically, in fact in my own opnion the reaction could very well be supportive for not only the 78 year old man but for Cheney. There are a lot of hunters out there who have had similar accidents, been peppered, or peppered somebody else. This accident is horrible, but it does happen, and those of us who are avid hunters know it.
The jokes connecting the misconduct of the administration, and this hunting accident do us no good. I think the best thing is to wish for a speedy recovery for the 78 year old man, point out the obvious lack of attention Cheney was paying to his fellow hunters.......... and get back to what matters! Anybody who thinks this will bring, Bush or Cheney down is dreaming. This is a horrible, preventable accident but 24/7 coverage will have no advantage for Democrats, nor will making light of a serious accident.
