Meth - The Jekyll and Hyde Drug
I have seen my son go from normal Jekyll to monster Hyde in front of my eyes. It's not a pretty sight to watch or hear - the verbal abuse is unbelievable. I am the 82 year old female with an abdominal aortic aneurysm. I have told to watch my blood pressure. All I can say is "one day at a time" or BFD!

2. Don't take abuse from anyone. Drugs/alcohol can escalate abusive
tendencies, but the Jekyll/Hyde syndrome is part of an "abusive personality" with or without drugs.

Like I say, refuse to tolerate his abuse, don't excuse him based upon his choice to use drugs. Tell him when he treats you in the manner a person deserves to be treated, you'll be glad to communicate with him.

Best wishes Bobbieo.

3. I had a friend go through that
with her daughter. A horror to go through. I read a lot about it then. Though not the worst of it the daughter managed to steal tens of thousands from them too, even after being kicked out of the house.

She has been clear a couple years now, but not because of anything the parents were able to do.

Meth is a strange and dangerous drug and it does change kind people into selfish "monsters". I'm sure your son, like so many others, was just curious and thought he could try it once.

You have to look out for you. I really hope you will get help from some group because this is bigger then any parent can handle alone.

4. Is he living with you?
if so, even though it's the hardest thing in the world for a parent to do, you can have him arrested the next time he gets crazy. You have to protect yourself

If he lives elsewhere, it will be harder to get him help.

Much love and hugs, hang in there. I was on it for about 7 years before I could get rid of it completely. Toughest nut I've ever had to crack.

I'm feeling much better now. :)

5. He lives here
The Jekyll side cleans the house, takes care of all the chores, etc - the Hyde syndrome is abusive, steals from me and threatens retaliation. I had him arrested on a Saturday noon and he was out Sunday night.

He has served prison time in 3 states and will be picked up again. He can't miss. Then, I will make my move to sell the house an get away from here if I live that long.
