Celebs lend a hand for L.A. tourism

Tourism's future bright, experts say

The invitation from actors Eva Longoria, Joe Mantegna and Diane Keaton seems irresistible: They want you to see their L.A.

No, they're not suggesting you hang with them on the Sunset Strip, downtown or along Ventura Boulevard. But when making those vacation plans, they say, just give L.A. a chance. This is a city that has a lot to offer.

They are among 47 celebrities, athletes, chefs and musicians who are volunteering for LA Inc.'s "See My LA" promotional campaign, which is designed to boost business for the travel/tourism sector.

"Prospects for tourism in 2006 look good," he said in his forecast. "And the local hotel industry will continue to see lots of activity - sales and rebranding." Or as Mantegna says in the "See My LA" campaign, "An alfresco cafe on Ventura Boulevard, good wine and a cigar ... I love it."
