To not have Harry Belafonte present and Jesse not to speak today was bullshit suck up to Bushites by that church.

2. Do we even know why he wasn't there
I tend to believe that the SS wouldn't let him in with bush* in the building. That's just the thing that comes to my mind.

4. I couldn't...
agree with you more. Harry Bellafonte can speak for me and my country any day. When I saw him side by side with Chavez a few weeks ago I was just thrilled!

6. My state of Georgia can't tolerate "socialist" speak
That's why it treated King and all his activists with such hatred and racism back in the day.

8. I was disappointed Sharpton didn't speak...
but I didn't see it as sucking up.

I don't agree with the political pot shots taken at bush, but thinking about it, I wondered if Mrs. King gave her approval ahead of time if she told her children of her wishes.

9. And to top it off, T.D.Jakes spoke and even he admitted that he
had not participated in the civil rights movement. Jakes is also a part of the mega faith-based churches.

13. Do you realize how close he was to the King family? Maybe we wasn't
invited because of what he recently said about Bush. I am sure he (Harry) can't stand to be in the same room with the arrogant liar.

14. Wasn't Jackson there on the balcony with King when he was
assassinated?

And took the reins of the Poor People's March after that?

Then again, everything Jackson's done since then has turned to... and
his son is one of those "upwardly mobile, go along to get along" types.

To think such people are trading on the name their elders made, going up against the establishment. That's the process of co-optation for you... "Take away the barricades and we're still here!"

12. Obviously about her life
The focus was all on her and her accomplishments, not MLK's. Her life continued after his death and the people chosen were clearly part of her life; along with 4 Presidential dignitaries.
