4. It's a funeral...
It shouldn't take a funeral to be able to get a crack at telling the President off to his face. The perceived necessity and desirability of doing so is a little disturbing to me.

14. Well, a funeral is also a celebration of a life.
Not any life, but a particular life.

Mrs. King would probably be offended if that man weren't sent a clear message. She spent her life fighting the blight he represents.

out of.

They can't control the audience and they cna't control what they say.

It's called freedom of speech. Its an endangered species, but it survives in certain environments.

and that would be a waste of a perfectly good senator.

And, don't mistake me. She won't get creamed because she's not good or big or able enough. She will get creamed because the bigots in the Thuggery have spent years whipping up bigotry in this country and because they own the media and the machines.

Smear + media + vaporizing votes.

I remember what they tried to do with Big Dog. Hell, my brother lent him the sax that he played on Arsenio, lol. He set the Thugs back a decade. But since then, there's been a growing problem with hackable votes. There's too much evidence now to just dismiss this as over zealousness or tin foil hattedness.

You want to run Hilary? Clean up our elections. You know, I remember what it was like to work your @ss off in a campaign and have the winner take the spot. It felt GREAT. :)

62. My wife said she would love to vote for Hillary
She is very much a Liberal but not political at all. She doesn't want to hear it. Every time I start mentioning anything about politics or Bush* she just up and leaves the room. She finds it all just too depressing. She was very emphatic about her desire to vote for Hillary though so I think you may very well have a better insight on things than a lot of folks around here. We could run the local dogcatcher and still do better than what we have...

If you say anything loud enough and long enough, it's probably going to happen. If investigating the Clintons for 12 years, spending nearly 100 Million Dollars, even going through the woman's lingerie drawers, and every other thing they could think of, and it still didn't bring the fascists what they wanted so badly; they'll have to think up a lot more crap to get her with.

31. Mrs. King's funeral
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 02:56 PM by Orion The Hunter
Great quote from live Q&A from the Washington Post (with Eugene Robinson):

<<( Question) Glenview, Ill., transplant from New Orleans: Isn't it extremely hypocritical for Bush 43 to turn up at Mrs. King's funeral? I hope it doesn't delude my black brothers and sisters into thinking that he actually cares about them.

(Answer) Eugene Robinson: I think that in light of all the questions raised about the president's concern (or lack thereof) for African Americans, he couldn't possibly have missed this funeral. I notice that he even made reference to an old Gospel song (Leaning on the Everlasting Arm). But in terms of fitting in at a black Baptist church, he's no Clinton... >>

40. i think Rev. Lowery’s Standing Ovation was more important than
clinton's. he said this and recieved a standing ovation.

quote:
We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there. But Coretta knew and we know that there are weapons of misdirection right down here. Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor.

Think Progress has the video:

As my little sister always says (she's 41), "I miss Clinton." I do too. That man has such a way with people - he could sell ice cubes to someone living in Antartica. He just always knows what to say. I know that Coretta is on a higher plane smiling down as she watches him honor her. And I hope she is laughing at the tepid response the Boooshies got.
