Study: New Machines Await 4 in 5 Voters
By ROBERT TANNER, AP National Writer Mon Feb 6, 3:32 PM ET

Fewer voters will cast their ballots by punching a card or pulling a lever in this November's elections as the country continues to turn to newer, electronic machines, according to a study released Monday.

While the study says old systems that were prone to error are on their way out, experts also note that means many Americans will be voting on unfamiliar equipment this fall.

At least four out of five registered voters will use the newer generation of machines — either ATM-style touchscreen machines or ones that ask voters to fill in the blanks, a vast change from the contested 2000 presidential election that spurred states and Congress to push for improved equipment.

1. Those who think that this year's elections
will be free, fair, and honest are delusional.

I've been saying that for several years now. While I intend to do my personal best to see that Democrats and other honest people are elected this November, I have absolutely no faith that that will actually happen. Anyone who thinks otherwise hasn't been paying attention.

Keep in mind that this administration came to power in a coup, and will never give up power willingly, or in anything so silly as a free, fair, and honest election.

3. You absolutely have it right! And no one seems to believe it or
gives a fuck...the republicans own the fucking electronic voting machines (ES&S, Diebold)...

And where ever the republican need a fix the machines always favor republicans and they win 100% of the time...and the tepublican owned media never reports a word about it.

Fuck Americans need to wake up!

6. I spent much of the 2004 electoral cycle
pointing out that the machines could and would be rigged, and I often got unbelieving stares, especially from people who should have known better. And many of those same people think that the upcoming election will be a shoo-in for a Democratic majority.

Keep in mind that in 04, Bush's approval rating was slightly under 50%. And we're supposed to believe that he really won re-election? We're also supposed to believe that exit polling is entirely unreliable. I don't understand why John Zogby who several days before the election said without hesitation that Kerry would win (on The Daily Show) has never come out and said he wasn't wrong, but that the election was stolen. And to think I went to kindergarten with that guy.

2. There's gotta be a way to fix this.
Another poster at another site had an idea about getting a couple hundred colleges to do real exit-polling this year to detect fraud. It sounds good to me. I would trust academia more than the media or the government. I wonder if there is something we can do..

7. Exit polling was done
last time. And it showed Kerry as a clear winner early in the day. All of a sudden the exit polls vanished, or, worse yet, were explained away as being badly done. They weren't. But unfortunately, most people out there now believe that exit polling is unreliable.

Remember that in 2000 the exit polling in Florida correctly showed that a majority of people intended to vote for Gore, but were defeated by a deliberately confusing ballot.

8. Yes, I remember it exactly as you describe it.
In 2000 Voter News Service called FL perfectly which allowed everyone to see how the will of the people was thwarted there. The media then said that they would no longer use VNS and instead commisioned their own exit-polls in 2004. The company they used won't release their data because it belongs to the media consortium that commissioned it.

I think if we could get some universities together then they could perform exit polls on a fairly large scale. And the data could all be open for examination by the people. And with universities involved, it wouldn't matter what the media would have to say about it. It would be impossible for them to sit on the story and make it disappear like they have done for the 2004 election. Although I am aware of the anti-science bias of this cabal.

We must try every avenue that is available to try and defeat the vapor voting system that is being rammed down our throats. I just don't know where to start with trying to organize a national exit-poll.

4. this is the result of HAVA
"The Help America Vote Act" which appropriated money to the states.

The main purpose was to sell Diebold hackable breakable overpriced crap.
