Notice Ali G's qualifiers? THIS PROGRAM does not authorize domestic...
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 12:27 PM by Atman
...spying. THIS PROGRAM. He is very clear to differentiate every time he answers. "That is not what THIS PROGRAM is about." It is almost too obvious that by ommission there is A DIFFERENT PROGRAM which authorized spying on Americans. He takes great pains to that point out when asked about domestic spying. It is very obvious, imo. We have two different programs going on, and they've only been caught doing this one. But Ali G is making it clear we're not looking in all the right places, nor asking all the right questions.

1. I noticed the exact same thing
And thought it weird the way he qualified "this program". I'm glad you started a thread on this. Hopefully, someone in the lamestream media or in this joke of a hearing will pick up on it also and start asking some questions about it.

4. Damned straight. The AG has tipped the admin's hand
And it's not unanticipate. The first rule of intelligence work is to keep things compartmentalized so that when one program goes down, the rest of an effort is protected.

We MUST have Intelligence Committee Hearings to enumerate just how many of these fucking programs there are.

8. Negroponte basically admitted are other secret programs
Just wanted to add this from the NSA hearings a few days ago. Feingold asked if the spy agencies are conducting any other intelligence programs that they were not revealing to Congress. Negroponte wouldn't answer in public. Just more evidence that there are additional, secret, programs operating here.

"Mr. Negroponte's careful recitation of the threats facing the nation, including terrorism, Iran and North Korea, included few surprises. But as soon as senators were permitted to question him and his colleagues, an emotional debate quickly ensued over the conduct of the intelligence agencies and the proper degree of public and Congressional knowledge of their activities.

In one pointed exchange, Senator Russell D. Feingold of Wisconsin, a Democrat, asked Mr. Negroponte whether there were any other intelligence programs that had not been revealed to the full intelligence committees.

The intelligence chief hesitated, then replied, "Senator, I don't know if I can answer that in open session."
