Save the WORLD!!!
Ban the Light Bulb:

Snip:
With lighting contributing 5-10% towards the typical electricity bill in the developed world, and even more in the developing world, the savings could really mount up.

Low-energy light bulbs would be a first step to curbing climate change
It has been estimated that if every household in the US replaced just three of its incandescent light bulbs with energy-saving designs and used them for five hours per day, it would reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 23 million tonnes, reduce electricity demand by the equivalent of 11 coal-fired power stations and save $1.8bn.

1. Thanks for the reminder.. I forgot to turn off the bedroom light.
We have started buying low-energy bulbs.. the weird looking spiral twisted kind. They are actually pretty cool.

2. They also last for YEARS
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 08:51 AM by Warpy
so you don't have to keep a closet full of the damned things around. You just buy one or two of them to keep ahead after you've used them for 3 years or so.

I started using fluorescent bulbs 10 years ago, before they came out with the spiral design that fits most lamps. I can't imagine going back to incandescents and changing the damned things so often. The savings on my energy bill have been minimal, but it's nice also to leave a light on in a room I'm going back and forth to. They're guilt free that way.

They really have come a long way and don't make your skin look green any more.
