I hope our guys on the Judiciary Committee are doing the homework
Edited on Sat Feb-04-06 06:28 PM by Phoebe Loosinhouse
for the Gonzales appearance Monday where he will defend the warrantless surveillance. I will not accept half-assed, incomplete, uninformed questions, lack of follow-up when he obfuscates, OR blowhard grandstanding when the Constitution of the United States is literally at stake.

Senators, it's NOT ABOUT YOU! - no speech-making, do the research and ask the HARD questions.

This link is an article about how Gonzales might play some of it.

4. Feingold's on the committee and
he's been asking questions already about Gonzales lying about the torture when being confirmed. If anyone is going to or is allowed to ask it will be him.

7. I wish
Maybe Durbin and Biden could do that. Too bad. Would they be able to do it?

8. Biden would never even think of doing that
First it would mean accepting that they would be better. Second, give up a chance to again tell us he is Irish Catholic and tell a long winded story of no tangible relevance. After all, maybe this time he will spend his entire 30 minutes instead of a mere 26 asking his questions.

13. Sad thing is that Biden CAN be sharp when he wants to. Durbin is always
good.

9. There are plenty of sharp questioners
on that panel. Personally, I prefer my Senator (Leahy) as a questioner, to either Kerry or Boxer. And Biden can be terrific when he's not pontificating. Also Feingold and Schumer. They'll be fine without Boxer and Kerry.

11. Are they even allowed to do this?
The other problem is that as they are not members of that committee, I think they have a lower security clearance or it may just be they are considered not to have the need to know on these issues.

5. I always hope for that... but we also need to be vigilant...
...against a Corporate Media all too willing to spin certain Dems or certain behavior as self-centered speechifying politics while ignoring the hard questions that are being asked. (We all know that it makes a better tabloid headline to ridicule someone than to cover actual policy.)

Just sayin'.

6. Do you think his wife will sit behind him and burst into tears?
And then the media can all talk about how "mean" the Democrats are.
