Ted Nugent fires up GOP crowd, and not in a good way
POSTED: 7:25 p.m. EST, January 18, 2007

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- Hours after Gov. Rick Perry kicked off his second full term in office, Ted Nugent helped him celebrate at a black-tie gala, but not all attendees were pleased by the rocker's performance.

Using machine guns as props, Nugent, 58, appeared onstage as the final act of the inaugural ball wearing a cutoff T-shirt emblazoned with the Confederate flag and shouting offensive remarks about non-English speakers, according to people who were in attendance.

Perry's spokesman, Robert Black, downplayed the Tuesday-night incident.

"Ted Nugent is a good friend of the governor's. He asked him if he would play at the inaugural. He didn't put any stipulation of what he would play," Black said.

1. Washed-up old racist asshat.
Keep hoping he'll shoot himself while stalking his dinner.

9. "some people think he's gonna die someday..."
"...he's got news, he never has to go."

"come on come on up"

"he's got you in a stranglehold baby, you best get out of the way."

I mean how long can he live off of one fricking song that sucked in 1977 and still sucks today.

4. The Texas GOP has had these opinions for a long time....
But many of them are no doubt, "shocked" by such a display!

Elephant Wars; The Christian Right Flexes Its Muscle at the Republican Convention

BY JAKE BERNSTEIN

The 2002 Texas Republican Party platform depicts a twilight looking-glass world. It’s a place beset by enemies, where the purity of the culture, under constant siege, must be protected from threats both internal and external. Congress is urged "to deploy our military forces to secure our international borders." Immigration must be severely restricted.

If these safeguards fail, the contagion of the foreign horde must be controlled and quarantined. The platform calls for "deportation of aliens if they do not carry the required ID." Illegal immigrants should not be granted drivers’ licenses. Voter registration is to be made more difficult. "American English" is the official language of the state and "the Party supports the termination of bilingual education programs in Texas."

However, a bit of dissension & disquiet shows up--even among the Republicans. For example: Hispanic voters.

Alberto Gonzalez has no pride, nor shame. He is nothing but an amoral'suit' for the mob. Bush Gang likes to put minority persons such as Gonzalez, Rice and Mehlman in positions of power because they do discredit to others of the same background.

It's a backhanded form of bigotry.

8. "good friend" of the Governor's. Too bad there were so many
candidates in the last election which allowed Perry to get by.
