Bill O'Rielly the idiot; Lincoln and FDR did not have children in the military
Stephanie :loveya: Miller just had on a Bill O'Rielly clip where "Luffa Boy,"
said that neither Lincoln or FDR had sons in the service ..... This was in context
of Sen. Boxer's exchange with Condi that she did not have any "skin in the game."

Facts and O'Rielly not so much.

From Wiki on F.D.R.

All four sons were officers in World War II and were decorated, on merit, for bravery.

on Robert Todd Lincoln

During the American Civil War he joined the Union Army and was appointed to the rank of captain. His father did not want him sent to the front-line* and so it was arranged that he should became assistant adjutant general of volunteers on the staff of General Ulysses S. Grant. This enabled him to be present when General Robert E. Lee surrendered his army at the Appomattox Court House.

In 1881 President James Garfield appointed Lincoln as his Secretary of War.

So when will Bill be sending out his correction?

* Lincoln had 4 sons three of which had died before reaching adulthood .....

1. Probably right after he says he won't believe anything from the White House
Didn't he say that if WMD were not found in Iraq, he would never trust anything from the White house again?

4. Like John Kerry hurt himself to get a purple heart so as to get out of Vietnam
or Dan Rather made up the fact bush was AWOL
or that Boxer criticized Condi Rice for not having children
or that tough questions made Justice Allito's wife breakdown and cry
or that Bill Clinton had Vince Foster murdered
or that the real WMDs were smuggled from Iraq to Syria
or that ...

5. Disregard all Republican Generated information
It's wrong at best and engineered dis information at worst.
I refuse to engage no matter what they say.
"I'll check it out myself" isn't what they want to hear , but it usually ends the repeated delivery of the latest dis information.

6. If we don't do it, who will hold Bill O accountable? Maybe Keith?
He keeps giving Keith O fodder for his nightly commentary.

BTW, I remember reading that one of FDR's sons was flying an escort in the bomber mission where Joe Kennedy, Jr's explosive laden bomber blew up killing Kennedy.

Joe Kennedy saw his chance to become a hero. He was eager to go, and was a very experienced pilot. The system to be used was to load a B-24 with explosives, using two pilots, and the installation of an arming pin to prevent accidental ignition of the explosives. The target was Mimoyecques, France. A P-38 weather plane reported acceptable conditions, it was a go. Kennedy and his co-pilot Bud Willy took off at 5:55PM. The safety pin had been properly installed in the arming unit. Fourteen other aircraft gathered in formation with the "flying bomb". The lead plane was a B-17. There were two P-38s to accomplish aerial photography over the target. Also included were two Mosquito bombers, one to monitor weather, the other flown by Elliot Roosevelt, the son of the President of the United States.

BTW, was that on O' Reilly's TV or radio show - anyone have a clip or transcript? I would love to forward this on to a local liberal radio host.

Rightwingnuts are stupid little people with big egos and tiny brains who believe it makes them tinier little people to admit when they're wrong.

Despite physical ailments including flat feet, James Roosevelt became an officer with a Marine Raider Battalion, landing behind enemy lines at Makin Island and elsewhere, earning both the Navy Cross and Silver Star.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, Jr., was a Naval Officer who served at in Operation Torch and later commanded a ship in the Pacific where he earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart.

John Aspinwall Roosevelt, FDR's youngest son, served as a Naval Officer aboard the air craft carrier USS Hornet.

Elliot Roosevelt, a colonel in the U.S. Army Air Force flew a P-38 during the invasion of North Africa, and then flew photo-reconnaissance in support of the D-Day invasion at Normandy.

When FDR died in 1945,Eleanor Roosevelt sent this telegram to her four sons, all serving in different parts of the globe,“Darlings, Father slept away this afternoon. He did his job to the end as he would want you to do.”

13. Oh and Lincoln had military experience:
"He served as a captain in a company of the Illinois militia drawn from New Salem during the Black Hawk War, although he never saw combat. He wrote after being elected by his peers that he had not had 'any such success in life which gave him so much satisfaction.'"
