I don't know about you , I sure wish I lived in another country
I was born here in the US lived in four states since my 57 years on the planet .

I always felt america was the place to be but now I just don't feel to comfortable .

All this being the world terror country is really getting to me big time .

It seems that moving is very difficult now unless you just buy tickets one way and hope that you are not sent back and that the bit of money I have lasts long enough to start over .

I never thought I would feel this way . Things just don't look like they will change for the better anytime soon enough for me .

1. Then we would just bomb you there
:sarcasm: But seriously, doesn't it feel like you ARE in a different country, just that you haven't moved but the Government has? I would have agreed with you 3 months ago but, fool that I am, I still feel some hope for the US. But only some.

7. Weren't you in the military while living in those countries?
Could make a difference in how things are experienced. By the way, will report back next wk after talking to mom of person I talked about last wk. Got more ideas for her.

3. besides having a better social safety net in some places
I dont see much more safety. If the US is going to be a war mongering Giant bent on world domination, no country on earth is safe.

If there is a war with Iran, it can possible escalate to a world war with Russia and China. World oil prices would skyrocket and who knows how large that war can grow to and possibly nuclear?

I would not want to be a former American anywhere else in the world because we are probably hated like at no other time.

The best thing to do is stay here and fight to get our country back.

4. I feel the same way.
It seems Canada might be a good place, or one of the Scandanavian countries.
I don't mind the cold weather, and I've learned to enjoy my Siberian Huskies.

Bush out of the presidency isn't really going to be enough...its going to take a long, LONG time to right all of the wrong he has done. And only then if the administration(s) have the welfare of the whole country as their guiding force.

However, my leaving won't help my kids, or my grandkids.

8. I agree totally.
This is no longer the country I knew. This is a scary place now...and it will take decades to fix even a part of it. Somehow I don't believe that will ever happen. Bush has done us in.

11. we semi retired to France.
In the south. It's peaceful, safe. We are welcomed. The French do not hate Americans. I have never experienced one iota of resentment. In fact, we are taken better care of here than we did by the US government. Here, we are given access to reasonable priced health care. Very crucial . Amazing, we were granted 10,000 euros of coverage even without enrolling in their health care system; just granted to us for being awarded a French visa. Can you imagine. The media is far more diversified.Food is safer. And we do love it here.
Even tho life is more secure and the French have that 'j'oi du vie', of course much about America is special. I hope you all will fight for secure health care and preservation of our cherished freedoms, making it more likely that the many expats overseas will choose to return. But, many of us gave up. As of now, The people do not run America. The lobbyists do.

6. Soon China/Japan will stop accepting our funny paper money
and you will not have to worry about the US bombing any more countries. The Defense Industry does not take rubber checks.

10. I used to think that
but now I'm staying and fighting. This is still the best country with the best people in the world because it is my home and the home of my conservative family whom I have fought with for the last 6 years. I haven't budged and they seem to be coming around to me in small steps. As Margaret Cho said, I've decided to stay and fight. We won 2006, and we will win 2008. We have to for the world's sake.

12. The human population of this planet has done a great job of fucking things up royally...........
'WE' must ALL make the attempt to correct all the wrongs, specially those of the USA. Future generations don't deserve to be left to deal with the MESS 'WE' CREATED.

14. Not anymore
I did want to move away during the first 5 years of chimp's MISadministration and was actually making long range plans to do so. Since the Democrats took over though I'm feeling more hopeful and have shelved the moving plans.
