10. The Republicans asked question...
and he answered once, then they kept asking it. Rep. DeGette wouldn't give them part of her time to use for the parliamentary inquiry, so they couldn't ask. It was wonderful!

29. That would be Patrick Henry
31 years old, and since the opening day of this 110th Congress, he's been running his mouth off in opposistion to every single DEM issue.
He started off by trying to have Pelosi's Minority Bill of Rights amended to the Dems Ethic Reform package, and how hypocritical she is for not.
Ever since, he's been trying to get noticed during every debate on every issue. My hunch is, he's another Santorum.

13. I know...
it's pretty fuckin' awesome watching them bitch about things. It's not unfair, it's just the rules of the house, and they don't want to follow them. This is a well established practice.

The little twerp wouldn't read the bill.

That was amazing! The Repubs couldn't follow the most basic parliamentary rules, Barney was having none of it, and they acted like little put-upon babies. Unbelieveable.

28. Thank you...
whenever I want to know what's going on, I run over here to DU. I get more than I was looking for, e.g. I didn't know I could watch C-span proceedings on the net while they were going on. I'm going there in 6 minutes (C-span 3), so I can watch Condi sweat (I think she'll be on 3).

30. Barney Frank is Fabulous, for Many Reasons
Sometimes, you don't realize how impressive some people are until they get the majority, and you can really listen to their plans for things. I have heard several speeches lately by Barney Frank, who is the new Chair of the Financial Services Committee, and Frank is really smart, and really ethical. There was a recent conference on debt, and a speech on banking law and other issues, and they were both fabulous--Barney Frank is going to be great.

This thing today is apparently part of a very pissy and annoying Republican strategery, where they will interrupt our Floor speeches over and over, ask questions that have nothing to do with the bills being discussed, ask them under procedures that they are not, and then whine over and over, "Do you mean that I am not even allowed to ask...?" etc., as if they are oppressed. These people are making themselves totally superfluous to Governing itself. This asshole from North Carolina today, actually asked for a Parliamentary Inquiry, to ask if the already-voted-on Minimum Wage bill could be changed, so that Guam or whatever the hell it was, could be exempt. I could hardly believe my ears. Then all the Republicans who were there acted like some weird combination of pissy/oppressed, and, laughing at the "fun" they were having destroying the system of Federal Government. Fucking pieces of shit.

Barney Frank was unflappable, though: great. Smart, knew the rules and how to answer, did not back down, and handled the assholes--and plus, was very funny the whole time. Frank is one of the best, and so is Representative Louise Slaughter of New York, too.
