Gore Helps DSCC Raise Money
For the first time in a while, ex-VP Al Gore put his name to an e-mail fundraising solicitation on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Commission.

Gore, in the letter: "Let me be perfectly clear. Our American values are at risk. George Bush is pursuing a truly breathtaking and unprecedented power grab that marginalizes the role of both our federal courts and the Congress. As a result, he has been able to enact the most extreme aspects of his right-wing agenda in virtual secret and without meaningful oversight. It stops now. Together, we can change the balance of power in Washington. We can elect a Democratic Senate in just 10 short months that will stand up to the Bush administration's unprecedented power grab and will stand up for our American values again."

"The single best way to end one-party rule in Washington as soon as possible is to support the DSCC in its mission to elect a Democratic Senate."

1. I give them 10 bucks a month
I live in Mississippi but if I can spend 10 bucks a month to get rid of rick santorum I will consider it money well spent. I'm glad Al Gore is on board with them.

2. I heard on one of the news channels that the House Democrats
were going somewhere this weekend for a retreat and that Gore was going to be there.

Maybe he is going to show everyone his presentation. I hope so.

Surely the Congresspeople would have noticed the early blossoms on the cherry trees down there!

13. Not me. They only support pet candidates.
I will give only to the candidates themselves. The DSCC for instance made it very clear they will NOT support Paul Hackett. I have watched them interefere too often in too many races to give them the benefit of the doubt. We MUST support the candidates NOT the DSCC. It is NOT the same thing. They do NOT provide support for all Democratic Senate Candidates

18. Yup. Both the DSCC and DCCC are supporting candidates like we already have
I'm already pissed that they gave MY money to the centrist candidates and are trying to knock the progressive Dems out before the primaries. No more of that for me.

Gore should set up a Patriot's Fund like Feingold or the DFA All-Stars. People get to vote on which candidates they want to receive the money.

22. Don't have a link but you can call and ask. In the case of Hackett,
Schumer, the DSCC chair asked him to withdraw so that the selected candidate could run! As for the DCCC I am working with a really fantastic candidate right now and they won't do squat as he isn't in a "targeted" district. This is my second congressional campaign that I worked on and they are acting just the same. They do NOT support all the candidates. I thought Dean would cahnge that but it isn't true. There is a congressional listserv and all the candidates talk about their lack of support. Unless you are a preselected pet, you are on your own.

23. That's not cool at all.
Thanks for sharing, I'll still support the overall cause, but I'll also know to give to candidates of my choosing as well as DFA and 21st century Dems etc.

:hi:

8. Question
I've been looking for Gore's speaking schedule. I'd love to see his global warming presentation, but always find out afterward. Does anybody know where to find his schedule? I've looked at a couple of boards and had no luck.

9. He doesn't give his schedule out in advance, and only invites locals
Local MoveOn members and local Democratic party members will usually be given a heads up a day or two before an event.

We post and disseminate information as soon as we receive it:

14. Sorry, Al. You are wrong ...
The single best way to end one-party rule in Washington is to have an opposition Party.

The DSCC doesn't deserve a dime.

16. The more that's raised with Gore as the pitchman
The more that the Senate Dems will see that opposing the Bush admin pays off, in votes and donations. Even if the worst of them can't figure out what issues to oppose themselves, they will try to parrot Gore's positions.

Also, if Gore solicitations raises more than solicitations from (insert the name of the last Democrat you ever want to see as our 2008 Nominee), the more major donors and party hacks are going to be more willing to back Gore, rather than a defend-the-status-quo-at-all-costs Democrat.

Sad but true.

21. As MyDD said, if so, he'd better get his arse in gear
He has no shadow campaign. No Leadership PAC. No staffers. No fundraising. Nuthin'. Certain things have to be in place. They are not there for Gore.

If somebody's gonna draft him, they'd better do it quick. Or he will be the Wes Clark of 2008.
