I think this cartoon sums up the situation nicely.

Sorry to hear that Toles was triple-teamed. I hope he was able to squeeze in stop loss, secretly lowered military recruitment goals, the soliders' lack of ANY kind of body armor, not having enough troops to begin with and avoiding the political suicide implied in a draft. Like Dr. Rumsfeld WOULDN'T keep this paitent enlisted if there was a way.

Says the Pentagon has the tightie whities all in a bunch over this. Called it "callous and reprehensible". Well, sorry guys, what you are doing to our soldiers over there is what is truly disgusting.
