CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A well-known NASCAR publicist was arrested Tuesday and charged with statutory rape and soliciting a minor for sex over the Internet, authorities said.

Richard Norman "Chip" Williams Jr., of Mooresville, was arrested in the parking lot of a Guilford County church where he had arranged to meet what he believed was a 14-year-old girl with whom he had been conversing in an Internet chat room, Sheriff B.J. Barnes said.

Williams' firm, Williams Company of America, Inc., handles media and public relations for drivers Kyle Petty, Bobby Labonte, Derrike Cope and John Andretti, among others. Williams also formerly worked for NASCAR, where he handled public relations for the top-level Winston Cup racing series.

On Edit: After reading the article, it appears he only made arrangements to meet in the church parking lot. And he had been having a relationship with a 15-year-old for 4 years. That means he was having sex with an eleven-year-old! What a scumbag.

12. Just so you know, I've been a NASCAR fan since the '70s

my father raced on small dirt tracks in the mid '60s here in NC. He raced against guys who became superstars of the sport. I don't like what NASCAR has become, an uber-nationalistic, racist, mysoginistic celebration of "redneck" stupidity.

Edit to add: It is a FACT that the assholes who run the sport now are GOP loving, greedy pigs. All they care about is the bottom line and playing to and cultivating the absolute WORST elements of NASCAR. It's all mom, Amerika, Gawd, Budweiser and apple-pie. It's sickening in its simplicity. 10. Separation of Church and State

"They" should support it so then "christians" could have sex in church parking lots without being bothered by laws against sex with minors. And since a "saved" "christian" will enter the kingdom of gawd regardless of their actions against other humans they would not be an inconvenience to church goers just looking for a parking space.
