I truly do believe that among their many evil sub human traits, the republiks are definitely misogynists, woman haters, members of the big boys club, no girls allowed. I think they are sickened and terrified at the prospect of ANY female lording power over them. There are many men like this, this is a man's world, sayeth James Brown, but he also said that it wouldn't mean nothin', nothin' without a woman or a girl.

This is a big moment for women, it was only 2 generations ago that women couldn't even vote, and certain men are STILL pissed about that. The women's rights movement led to a lot of other civil rights movements, this struggle for equality among powerful men didn't just happen, women fought hard for this moment.

And they are about to give this woman all holy hell, and they will try their DAMNEDEST not to sound like woman hating pigs when they attack her, repeatedly, calling her every lousy name in the book, make no mistake, she is faced with a pack of rabid assholes with a hard on for her.

It will get real, real ugly, and behind the republik attack will be a hatred of women with power, and women in general. Like Janis Joplin said, Nancy is gonna show ya', that a woman can be tough.

18. The Democratic Caucus looks like America
and the Republiklan caucus looks like reactionary white men who served in the South in the Civil War.

19. Yeah, I'm reminded of the Clinton impeachment.....
all the "holier then thou" standing up to condemn him were white fat and ugly.

2. agreed... but do you really think they would give any dem
Speaker of the House anything less than holy h@ll?

I think that the challenge of trying to hide their mysognism when attacking her, may make their attempted attacks a little more interesting than they would be if it were a male dem Speaker.

3. Agreed
Female or Male - they will give the Speaker as hard a time as possible. Part because they can, part because they really want to do so and in small part because it is in a sense their job to do so. They are now the opposition party and they must then oppose the other party's platform. It's the nature of things.....

15. No, it's different for a woman speaker. Repugs go after her (as they always have with
women in power) in terms of her sex organs. Not in "polite company" of course, but between themselves or if they can be anonymous. Sure, a male can be called a "prick" but somehow that just isn't as bad as the "c" word.

16. Well then we must agree to disagree
I really don't think it would be very nice in either case. Let's remember that these folks chose to run for these positions so I would assume that they understand what goes with them as I do not believe they are either stupid or uninformed. The name calling will happen, it is unfortunate, but is most certainly will do so as it has in the past and will again in the future.

20. True, but depressing all the same. I've been hearing this stuff
about women all of my adult life. It seems that some men go instantly to the woman's body part for their insults. Besides depressing, it is also boring because it is so predictable. At least with male candidates, people have a larger vocabulary of insults! With women, same old, same old.

4. Yup, I think you're right. But I bet it will backfire on them
if Americans get to see them in their true stripes.

Nancy Pelosi has great dignity and is the perfect person to put them in their place.

8. Our Democratic Congress needs to show the people
of this country how things are run and run correctly. If that is done we will be on our way for 2008. It is a sure bet that Republicans will do absolutely everything that they can to make sure we fail. There is no doubt that Nancy Pelosi being a woman and a Democrat is just galling them. Well ya know, it is pretty simple, if you screw around and mess up then you will pay the price. People in this country have proven that they are not stupid and will not tolerate the garbage that has been thrown at us for these last 6 years. Nancy Pelosi has class, brains and the stamina to show these guys. I firmly believe that.

7. Yes. The base of their party do not have respect for women. They can't
handle a woman in a leadership role. I worked in industry for 25 years; as a I recall, those I knew who resented women in leadership roles were republicans.

9. Chickenshits Are Scare Of Women...
Those big tough Repugnicans sure know how to talk a good macho game, but when it comes to being "real men", they run like scared "girlie men". Yep, they fear women who can be strong or smart as women are supposed to be second-class baby machines who are at their best when they're making an Apple Pie. That's just one of their fears. I'm convinced they're scared of gays, blacks, latinos, a-rabs and almost anything that isn't white, male and xtian.

The Repugnicans want to try to make Pelosi into a Gingrich...some power-mad ideologue. The demonization began during the elections and now Nancy's become her own cartoon. Of course, we can expect our good friends in the corporate media to give her a fair shake. :sarcasm:

10. It's not just women - anything not white and male
One of their big attacks pre-election was doing anything to stop Pelosi from becoming Speaker, and people like Charlie Rangel and John Conyers from becoming heads of powerful committees. You could almost hear them imply "uppity blacks like" before they say Rangel and Conyers.

It's just the 21st century version of the Southern Strategy.

11. Did you see the NRA(he-man woman haters club) cartoons of Nancy&Hillary?
The Washington Post took a look at the issue yesterday, and the NRA has finally fessed up to making this thing.

"A draft of the 27-page document, which was provided to The Washington Post by a source outside the NRA, lashes out at such icons of the left as investor George Soros, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Pelosi. They are depicted as part of “a marching axis of adversaries far darker and more dangerous than gun owners have ever known.”

Few places are less likely to be burgled than the Fairfax County headquarters of the NRA. But Arulanandam alleged that someone recently stole a “working draft” of the pamphlet, called “Freedom in Peril.”

The document is filled with sinister-looking caricatures of supposed anti-gun figures such as filmmaker Michael Moore, comedian Rosie O’Donnell, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (R) and CBS News anchor Katie Couric. One chapter attacks Democratic lawmakers such as Sens. John F. Kerry and Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and derides them as a “Gang of Opportunists.” Other NRA enemies are “One-World Extremists,” “Animal Rights Terrorists” (such as People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) and “Illegal Alien Gangs.”"

12. What is a "one-world extremist"?
I've never heard that one before... I don't think it's those militia types that have an arsenal of weapons and ammo stored in their homes in case the government tries to get them some day. Those guys are the NRA's base, no?

That she's a woman is probably number two.

21. Their stupidity has already started:

Remember when just a few months ago, you were shaking your head in disbelief that a feminazi San Francisco liberal could ever be Speaker of the House?

Imagine the negative press and firestorm if a Republican woman proclaimed herself "The most powerful woman in America.".

Their hubris knows no bounds.

America, you have two years to see what you've done. Thank God for George W. Bush.

Pelosi Plans Lavish Party

Representative Pelosi will mark her installation as the Speaker of the House with a four-day celebration. “This is a big deal,” the California Democrat’s spokesman Brendan Daly declared. “We’ve never had a woman Speaker before.”

The day after New Year’s Day, Pelosi will visit the Vatican, where she hopes to be coronated by the Pope. “No woman has ever been coronated by a Pope,” Pelosi said. “This ceremony will solidify the importance of my ascension.”

The next day, to show the common people that God backs the Democrats, Pelosi will attend morning Mass at Trinity University in Washington. That evening, she will be feted at a dinner at the Italian Embassy, where Tony Bennett will sing “I Left My Heart in San Francisco” while his back-up singers simulate gay sex acts. After dinner, a bong will be passed around.

On day three, Representatives who hope to keep their seats will be invited to kiss the hem of Speaker Pelosi’s skirt. At noon, the House will convene to formally elect Pelosi Speaker. That night, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will hold a fund-raiser where 1,200 lobbyists will pay to enjoy performances by Jimmy Buffett, Carole King and others.

On January 5, Pelosi will host an “open house” – by invitation only – at the Cannon Office Building.

The festivities are “more than just a party,” according to Daly. “Pelosi is grabbing the moment to present herself as the new face of the Democratic Party and to restore the party’s image as one hospitable to illegal immigrants, broken families, sexual-deviants, welfare-recipients, terrorists, and the gullible majority of voters.”

A discordant note was heard when al-Qaeda declined Pelosi’s invitation to participate in the celebration. “Pelosi and the Democrats act as if it is they who won the midterm elections,” al-Qaeda No. 2 man, Ayman al Zawahri complained. “The Mujahideen -- the Muslim Ummah’s vanguard in Afghanistan and Iraq -- are the ones who won, and the American forces and their Crusader allies are the ones who lost.”
