Al Franken is on the air LIVE
So much for all those rumors about Air America dying and Al Franken leaving the network.

3. Now to determine if his show is still boring as hell.
Sorry about the bashing, but I'm a bit upset that Tom Hartman isn't still filling in for Al.

7. Air America is dying LOCALLY...about a gazillion markets are pulling the
progressive radio format, which includes Air America and Jones broadcasts, and putting in Right wing nutjobs talk.

Example, Columbus, Ohio, broadcasts on 1230 AM, which mostly reaches the Metro Columbus area (Franklin County and bits of surrounding counties).. Franklin County is a GIGANTIC Dem area, and now Clear Channel (and it is Clear Channel who is killing it locally) wants to add ANOTHER right wing radio talk station (we have two already, 3 if you count NPR anymore) As of next week, unless the activists activities work, we will have another right wing talk station in the most Democratic part of the state.

Check out the Ohio Forum...if local broadcasts of Air America continue to decline, then I worry a LOT....and we are not the only market this is happening to. It is epidemic...as soon as the elections were over BANG...out goes local progressive talk radio.

Do I believe it is deliberate....oh yes...can I prove it? No....does it pass the smell test...yes.

10. And then you get stories like this:
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/ent/stories/DN-airamerica_1223gl.ART.State.Edition1.3db4155.html

After a backlash from this liberal city, Clear Channel Radio is keeping its Air America affiliate on the air instead of switching the progressive talk format to sports on Jan. 1.

Citing the overwhelming negative reaction to the planned change, the nation's largest radio station operator said it would keep The Mic 92.1 FM on the air as a progressive talk station.

The planned change to Fox Sports Radio, announced three days after the Nov. 7 election, had sparked outrage in Madison. Clear Channel said the station, WXXM-FM, had struggled to attract advertisers despite high ratings and that a sports format would be more profitable.

But thousands of people protested the end of their favorite station through e-mails, phone calls and a petition delivered to station officials this week. A rally last week drew 500 people, and politicians such as Mayor Dave Cieslewicz and U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis., denounced the decision.

13. True, and people are working hard to save it in the Columbus area
Me...to make SURE..I also got a second XM radio for my car so I can make sure that come next Tuesday, I have progressive talk radio.

I hope what happened in Madison can happen here.

9. We're still getting Hartmann here in Phoenix.
I'd rather listen to Al. He has good guests on his show.

15. That's because KPHX dropped Franken a few weeks ago
They now have Hartmann on live regularly. The only other Air America host they now have is Randi.

17. That would explain it.
I thought they had Hartmann on temporarily because Al was in Iraq.

Too bad. I prefer Franken.

16. Me, too. It's the best thing that Al does. I just hope New Haven can
keep our progressive talk station, WAVZ, 1300 AM.
