I suspect it's their innate sentiment for The Establishment. But their coverage of Ford's memorial seems way out of proportion to Ford's actual significance as a president, considering he was not chosen by the people and, therefore, couldn't last more than two years in office because he had nothing of substance to offer. Of course pardoning Nixon--and following him--is significant. But that role was chosen for him. He was meant to pardon Nixon and finish his term.

I don't bear any ill feeling toward him or his family. He was the last relatively decent human being the Republicans have nominated to run for president. But it makes me queasy to see a newspaper bow its head so reverently for any politician, let alone one with as limited significance to national history as Gerald Ford.

3. Skits - Ronnie wasn't that evil. He just wasn't the smartest
thing that came down the turnpike. Take a good look at the Republican presidents we've had since Eisenhower - none of them were rocket scientists. Their machine wants them dumb and maleable!!!!

5. I disagree
reagan ushered in the decade of greed from which America has never fully recovered and made idiocy fashionable - yeah, reagan was a twit and certainly he was the better actor but he never fooled me - he was one evil bastard

4. He saved the Republican Party.
Why wouldn't the Republican Corporate Media be appreciative? Just wait until Carter dies...you will be amazed at how different the coverage will be.
