Edited on Tue Dec-19-06 01:27 AM by Stephanie

Is that why he looks so smug? Did Dick just win another victory in Cheney vs. The World?

2. Shock and Awe worked SO well ... Didnt it ?
I mean .. damn .... We won .. right ? ....

Mission Accomplished ? ....

Here I was thinking that cooler heads have prevailed at Defense, and then all this ....

Iran is a dangerous gambit from the gang that couldnt shoot straight ...

Another "Cakewalk", to be sure ....

How long before the US Military takes out the WH ? ... SURELY the generals are not pleased ....

3. I heard a good shock and awe joke recently
It was in a parody letter from Bush to Al-Maliki of Iraq. He said "You know, you might want to try some shock and awe on your people. I did it once to this country- and it was pretty cool! The first part is the shock- in this case, dropping bombs- and people were shocked and like "Wow!". And then comes the "aww" part when you disappoint them. So at first Iraqis were shocked and thought it was exciting, but then they were like "Awwww...man, now all our buildings are destroyed".

Hope you enjoyed the joke. It's funnier when it's said in person.

4. I think they're both just two pissants who bit off way more than they can
chew, are frightened, and hope Gates will somehow bail them out. Every thing they touched turned to shit. Respect? -0, by lots of Americans.

6. They were listening to Poppy's pal pontificating, and he was saying what they wanted to hear
Sending more kids off to the BushCo meat grinder during the holiday season is just the thing to put grins on their faces, and hearing their new guy 'getting with the program' warms the cockles of that empty space where most have hearts:

Gates warns against failure in Iraq

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Robert Gates, sworn in as U.S. defense secretary on Monday, said he understood the desire to bring troops home but that failure in Iraq would be a "calamity" that haunts and threatens America for decades.

"All of us want to find a way to bring America's sons and daughters home again. But, as the president has made clear, we simply cannot afford to fail in the Middle East," Gates said at the Pentagon.

"Failure in Iraq at this juncture would be a calamity that would haunt our nation, impair our credibility and endanger Americans for decades to come," he said....Gates called Iraq his top priority and said he would travel there soon to meet with commanders as he tries to develop a new war plan.

...Many Democrats have called for a phased withdrawal from Iraq, although Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said he would support a short-term increase in U.S. troop levels in Iraq if it was part of a broader pull-out plan.
