Will the War on Tshirts be O'liely's next crusade?
Or is asking true questions about Free Speech not in his shoe box of fun?

I ask this because of the difference with Cindy being arrested and Sen. Young's wife ejected.

1. I want to see pictures of Young's wife being ejected last night
I won't believe that story until I see the photographic evidence. They documented Cindy's removal, so they would've documented that other woman's, too - if it actually happened.

And Flush has his own Gitmo t-shirt line, so, yeah, he'll probably declare a war on any non-neocon shirts.

3. St. Pete's Times quotes her.
And other posters have mentioned that her husband was bitching about it on C-Span.

Why don't you believe it?

5. Of course they lie. But I don't get why she'd lie about this.
I do think that ejecting Young was an after-the-fact attempt by the police to make themselves appear fair (by booting both women). Too bad they didn't realize that they should have arrested Young, as they arrested Cindy, if they wanted us to believe that.

6. Where are the pictures? There are many of Cindy being led away
Why aren't there any of another 'protestor' leaving after security confronted her? Why would the photographers miss that?

They wouldn't. Yet, there are no photos of Mrs. Young. Huh.

All the stories, including the C-Span rant by her husband, quote the wife as the only source. That's it. There is no corroborating evidence. The police spokesperson says only that Young's wife "wasn't ejected from the gallery and she left on her own." Except for Cindy, that describes everyone in the chamber.

Show me the pictures. One would do. Until then, it's a deliberate lie to counter how Cindy and Dems were singled out for fascist behavior. Cindy broke no rule. T-shirts are not considered a protest, according to the Capitol police, themselves:

"Believing that the Capitol Police needed guidance in determining what behavior constitutes a demonstration,” the United States Capitol Police Board issued a regulation that interprets “demonstration activity” to include: parading, picketing, speechmaking, holding vigils, sit-ins, or other expressive conduct that conveys a message supporting or opposing a point of view or has the intent, effect or propensity to attract a crowd of onlookers, but does not include merely wearing Tee shirts, buttons or other similar articles of apparel that convey a message.”

8. Hey, I agree it's a ploy on someone's part.
I'm guessing the police (or someone advising them) came up with it. But you could be right. We're on the same side, at any rate.

2. How can we still believe this country believes in freedom, I wonder
Where's the uproar??

For someone to face the possibility of a year in jail just because she wore a dissent t-shirt, while peaceful, at a president's speech is un-be-li-vable. Americans need a swift kick in the ass and wake up.

7. The war on T-shirts began in 2002.
Remember the father and son in Albany who bought "Peace" t-shirts at a mall and were thrown out (were they arrested, too? -- I can't remember). Right before Christmas, the holiday honoring the birth of the "Prince of Peace" (then there's that pesky Bible verse: "Peace on Earth, good will to men," too).

Haven't there been ejections of people wearing Kerry shirts at Bush and Cheney campaign events, as well?

Simply wearing a t-shirt with a message of your choice is no longer among the freedoms George claims to be protecting.
