Would Jesus Shop At Wal-Mart?
Would Jesus Shop At Wal-Mart?
December 15, 2006
Vox Populi, Current Events

By Robert Paul Reyes

From the Associated Press:

“A new television ad by the union-backed group WakeUpWalMart.com features a pastor asking, “Would Jesus shop at Wal-Mart ? Should you?”

Accompanying the ad, is a letter to Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Chief Executive Officer Lee Scott that was signed by more than 130 clergy members. The letter asks Wal-Mart to provide a “higher standard for its employees and their families,” which the letter says would reflect “the best of Christian values.”

Jesus of Nazareth wouldn’t shop at such an evil retail outlet, but Jesus of Juarez is probably working there earning substandard wages

The Jesus Christ who cleared the temple of money changers would clear Wal-Mart of all the DVD players,TV’s and designer jeans made by slave labor in China.

Wal-Mart should change its name to China-Mart — most of its merchandise comes from the communist country.

4. Where would Jesus shop? Would he use Visa or Master Card?
Would Jesus shop on-line & if he did what would his logon name be? What brand of plasma tv would he buy? These are the important religious questions of the day. Isn't that what X-Mass is all about - spending as much money as you can on material means and running up your credit cards.

I believe Jesus would spend the time in a soup kitchen feeding the poor.

5. Jesus would've been a socialist if he were alive today, and the US historically persecutes them.
If you show charity, you're called a saint.

If you ask others to do the same, you're called a communist.

11. According to the Gospels, Jesus was homeless and depended upon his friends' charity
to eat and lay his head at night, therefore, I doubt he would have shopped. People gave him all he needed for the ability of hearing him speak...
