Tony Snow Apologises to david Gregory
Will Bill Orally have a segment about this on his show tonight?

After David Gregory asked a question in this afternoon's White House press briefing, Tony Snow took a moment to apologize for accusing the NBC News correspondent of framing a question in a partisan way:

Before I get to that, I want to address something else. Because you and I had a conversation last week that got a whole lot of play in a lot of places, where I used the term "partisan" in describing one of your questions.

And I've thought a lot about that, and that I was wrong. So I want to apologize and tell you I'm sorry for it.

GREGORY: Thank you.

SNOW: And the reason I do that is not only because it's the right thing, but because I want people in this room and also people who watch these to understand that the relations in this room are professional and collegial.

And if I expect you to do right by us, you have every right to expect that I'll do right by you.

So, at any event, I just want to say I'm sorry for that.TVNewser

3. Do you think he got some focus group feedback on that?
Or is it more that Snow expects to go back to his old Fox haunts in a couple of years and wants to keep things civil with his colleagues?

2. Ok, Snow gets some credit for not being a total asswipe. But he is still a half asswipe, imo.

8. A half-asswipe is worse. It doesn't even get the job done.

4. Tony Snow was, is, and will be an asswipe.
What he understands is that his boss, and Rove, Cheney, et al are very weak right now, and he can "get away" with a professional-sounding apology. If they were in a position of strength, Mr. Gregory could have an heart atack on the briefing room floor and get nothing but a sneer from the podium.

Count on it: this is simply a cynical, heavily focus-grouped ploy to appear reasoanble whilst Snow contiues to channel Junior's demented rantings.

I am going to need a year-long pilgrimage to piss on the graves of all these low-life slimeball warmongering gutterdwellers. The Old Testament cannot describe the punishment each and every collaborator deserves.

18. Snow job apologized because
everyone called him a total asshole for accusing a man of being a partisan when he quoted from the Baker report. He had no fugging choice.

7. Their eyes met.
It felt as though the weight of a thousand misplaced words had been lifted.

David smiled gently. "Love," he said, "means never having to say you're sorry."

Cue the violins. :puke:

9. LOL!
Oh my God, if that's not Harlequin Romance material then nothing is... *wipes tears from cheeks*
Please tell me you only ripped off the well-known phrase, not the whole thing. I couldn't stand to know that "Love Story" actually has that bodice-ripping crap in it and for about 2 years of my teens I thought it was the greatest book ever written.

17. who used the brass knuckles on tony snow, i wonder?
just like years ago when the Cardinal of New York (I forget his name) apologized to Mario Cuomo for some offense he had uttered against Cuomo's pro-choice stand i think it was .

i told my husband, "look! the Holy Spirit is inspiring Cardinal Whose name I cannot now remember to aplogize to Cuomo for what he said about Cuomo the other day." My husband looked me straight in the eyes and said, "you are crazy if you go on believing it was the Holy Spirit who inspired the Cardinal. it was more like the Italian Mafia had a long talk with the Cardinal"

15. I worked with someone like Tony Snow
There was only one reality and it was his. He could say something one day and a month later totally spaz and suddenly he was telling another story. If you mentioned the previous story, he would just deny it.... shit, he could have worked for the whitehouse too!

28. There now. Wasn't that easy?
Is that the very first apology for anything we've heard from the white house?

I will say something for Tony Snow -- he manages to say nothing a lot more eloquently than Scottie used to. Reminds me of an old saying:
"Why, he's so good, he's good for nothing!"

29. This apology is only
because he came out looking like an asshole.

If the situation was eliciting a different response, no apology would have been made.

Political backstep and not worthy of giving Snow a nod for decency.
