Snowjob sez * is hunting the "best facts"
Watching KO tonite, I catch the Snowjob presser where he's telling everyone * wants to have the "best facts." Every so often, they slip up like this. What really irritates me, is if he said "best facts" in front of me, I'd be on him like stink on shit. "Oh, really? What facts would those be? Mostly I find there's really only one set of facts. What, do you have someone in the basement INVENTING them???" Where are our journalists? This individual should be experiencing hell every time he steps in front of these people and lies like that, and every time he kicks someone out, everyone else should refuse to show up until he reinstates them. That would be the end of that, in a heartbeat. And if only the Faux idiots stayed, I'd have an editorial in every paper, and the whole story on the front page every day until they decided they were fighting city hall and better stop if they still wanted anyone to care what they had to say when they were done. Screw Limpballs and his "liberal media," let him whine. The media are not there to report the spin, nor are they there to be "balanced." They are there to report the TRUTH, and when someone talks about the "best facts," and no one challenges them, there is no truth to be had.

1. Yes you're right! It's either a fact or it's not!

4. Frequent Liar Miles
Remember this one?

Bush Is Racking Up "Frequent Liar Miles"
Friday, 17 January 2003
Dennis Hans

Strategy of "lie and rely" relies on media to disseminate Dubya’s deceptions

...

In stunning contrast, Bush’s lies are broadcast as truth. They originate at the White House and are transmitted to network amplification centers in New York and Washington, at which point the lie leaves the president’s control. He then must rely on men named Brokaw, Jennings, Rather and Lehrer to treat the presidential lie with respect and deliver it to every nook and cranny in America via “the people’s airwaves.” The longer and farther the lie flies, the more “frequent liar miles” the president accumulates.

The strategy of “lie and rely” entails considerable risks. What if the media Bush is relying on to disseminate his lies chooses instead to shoot them down? A president is doomed if his every pronouncement is greeted with groans and guffaws. That’s why it’s wise to lie only when the truth won’t suffice AND the stakes are high — to win an election, to avoid the taint of scandal-plagued cronies, to sell a war the public is disinclined to buy.

...

Clearly our Corporate-Oligopolistic Media has put the lie to "Quality Journalism" in today's USA; certainly our leading journalists ought to be ashamed, but what are they to do, their very jobs depend on toeing their corporate master's line (they don't get paid the big bucks based on integrity). Hmmm... perhaps we should break those companies up?

12. Not a bad idea.
One of the things I dislike about our media is that it is primarily advertising-driven; this gives the advertisers inordinate power over what we get. When many small companies publish something the advertiser doesn't like, and the advertiser wants to influence what they publish, they have to write many letters, pull many strings, and many of the outlets will just go, "fuck you, we do what we want, don't like it, don't advertise and no one will buy your shit." This is even more true if those media outlets are subscriber-funded; they can afford to miss a few ads, and they know the advertiser will be back when they have a new product to announce. On the other hand, a large advertiser dealing with a large outlet can make a considerable difference to the outlet's bottom line, and if that outlet isn't funded by subscription, then the advertiser has much more "clout."

So basically I agree with your thesis that media companies should be small.

6. Obviously, for Bush, the best facts are those that agree with his
course of action. If the ISG had come up with a report that essentially said "stay the course" and parroted Bush's current policy, they would have been praised for their stellar advice and their recommendations would have been immediately accepted. Bush is looking for experts who back him up with his handling of Iraq so he won't have to admit that he made a mistake. His ego will not allow him to make any decisions interfere with his perception of himself, regardless how many lives must be lost in the process. It's all about Bush.

is he looking for:

a) an ungraceful exit?

13. Here's a set of facts
See if you can pick out which one is the "best":

1. Hundreds of people are getting killed weekly in Iraq

2. Dozens of U.S. soldiers are getting killed every month in Iraq

3. We're pissing away over a billion dollars every week in Iraq and Afghanistan

4. Some of the money we're pissing away is making its way into the pockets of Bush's friends

Keep your eyes on your own paper, use a No. 2 pencil, and . . . GO!

14. They're waterboarding a dozen Iraqis now in search of the best facts
Each will be released from custody as soon as he gives a fact supporting a reason why Bush should keep US troops in Iraq.
