Have you all called the Cleveland Heights Police Dept yet?
To register your anger about the lady who was harrassed and arrested for posting anti-Bush signs on telephone poles? I talked to a Detective Reise out there tonight. He would raise his voice every time I started speaking (typical cop control tactic), and he inferred that the news article about this lady's arrest was not true. I finally got him to admit that he didn't know whether it was true or not because he hadn't even read it! Anyway, I told him to please make a note that a woman out in Odessa, Texas (Bush country) was very, very upset about police tactics in this case. I suggested to him that maybe next time instead of arresting the person who posted signs on telephone poles and lamp posts, maybe he could inform her/him that they should put them up in the grass? He didn't have a lot to say about that.

This is a small battle, but if we fight the small ones, I think that we will find that we have less of the big ones to fight, guys. You might agree or disagree, but it's always worked for me.

4. In NY State it is illegal to post anything on telephone poles.....
from political to garage sale ads. Its an old law called posting handbills. Mostly it is enforced because the poles are private property and the poster never returns to remove them. Politicians here can also be fined for leaving their signs out beyond elections in public spaces. I wouldn't blame the cops so much, someone must have brought it to their attention.

6. Posting signs like that for any reason is illegal in most jurisdictions
Regardless of topic. Daughters and I used to take illegal signs down when we went on summer evening walks. Checkout http://www.causs.org/
