How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake?
"How do you ask a man to be the last man to die for a mistake? Lt. John Kerry, the Winter Soldiers testimony.

"Iraq is in serious danger of coming apart because of lack of planning, underestimating the task and buying into a flawed strategy, the longer we stubbornly resist admitting the mistakes and not altering our approach, the harder it will be to pull this chestnut out of the fire." Gen. Anthony Zinni.

The invasion of Iraq I believe will turn out to be the greatest strategic disaster in U.S. history, Lt. Gen William Odom.

The Iraq invasion will be seen as one of the greatest blunders that American Presidents have ever made, Jimmy Carter.

"There will be no military victory or military solution for Iraq." Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-NE).

The situation in Iraq is grave and deteriorating. Summary, Iraq Study Group.

The situation in Baghdad and several provinces is dire . . . The level of violence is high and growing. There is great suffering and the daily lives of of many Iraqis show little of no improvement. Pessimism is pervasive. Assessment of the Iraq Study Group.

The Iraq Group confirmed that a military solution is not forthcoming no matter how long we stay, Rep. Gwen Moore.

Levin, D- Michigan, Are we winning the war in Iraq? Robert Gates, No.

I thought we would succeed quicker than we did, and I am disappointed by the pace of success. George W. Bush, in response to the Iraq Study Group report.

How do you ask the last man to die for a mistake? I guess you do it by characterizing utter and complete failure as slow success.

2. "Hello? Sean Hannity? Yeah, look we would like you to be...
...the last man to die for a mistake. Yeah, that's right, Iraq. Well maybe mistake is the wrong word since it implies an accident. Maybe gross incompetence with a malicious indifference to the consequences of my actions. Anyway, it did not turn out the way it was supposed to. So what do you say? You in? Huh. Yeah, I see. Well, sorry you feel that way. Yeah. Say, how's your family? Nice folks. Be a shame if something happened to them."

3. better question . . . how do you ask ANY man or woman to die for a lie? . . .
Iraq was NOT a mistake . . . it was (and is) a very deliberate move to control the country's oil and other resources, and to establish a permanet U.S. presence and base of operations in the region . . . everything else is just mush . ..

5. a better question would be
how do you ask your kiddo to be the last person to die for a mistake?

And even more to the point, how do you ask yourself to be the last person to die for a mistake?

My SO in service as a Lt. Cdr had to address many operations requirements on board the Enterprise, not the least of which included estimating adequate stocks of body bags and containers.

There are many people who need to ponder that question, often, but most of all our legislators and executive branch.
