Have we ever had any President in history that..
the party protects no matter what. It seems as though no matter what he(Bush) does they(his base) will find away to find an excuse for him even though, what he is doing will affect them and their families detrimentally. I keep hearing about his legacy, his legacy won't matter to us when we are all dead or whatever other disaster occurs that effects us. Don't these people understand that IT'S NOT ABOUT HIM IT'S ABOUT US! I don't see how these people follow behind him knowing that he is the most arrogant, stubborn ass that has ever been called president in history...

2. The GOP felt the same way about the Dems rallying around Clinton.
Don't underestimate how much the Repukes truly hated Clinton.

3. I have never seen it this bad...
no matter what the situation, they will find someone that surrounds him to pin his mistakes on...Brownie(even though he did his share to f--k up, he fires and blames his staff and now its the generals, or the Iraqis fault because they didn't have a plan....

4. I don't know that that's a fair comparison
There were plenty of Democrats who criticized President Clinton's actions, just defended him against the overkill of impeachment.

Repbulicans are starting to criticize Bush too, but not in the same way, and they still defend most of what he did, just criticize how he did it.

9. RW hates for lies they are told by GOP operatives. LW loathes Bush for SERIOUS reasons
of historic nature - the facts that will dog him for history.

13. Problem is, we never actually DID that. Our "blind support" is a Repub fiction.
We had a LOT of problems with Clinton. But our REAL
complaints were never reported by the Corporate Media,
because they were too busy breathlessly parroting every
laughable RW conspiracy theory the Repubs could dream up.

I consider Bill Clinton to be one of the best POLITICIANS
of the 20th century. Credit where it's due.

But "one of the best Democrats"? Pfft. Not even in the top 20.

10. I think those who stand behind him are just reluctant to admit
that they totally misjudged the man when they gave him their wholehearted support. It's an ego thing.

11. my personal theory for that:
is that some folks (and I mean the voters, not the Congress) are too stubborn/proud to admit that perhaps they were wrong or worse that they were fooled. This pride and faith despite evidence is very central to what I see as the conservative mindset, and pops up in many ways.

So now, they manage to do some sort of acrobatic feats to justify what is being done. They will defend torture, a national ID, and destruction of the Bill of Rights (except for good old #2 of course...), even though some of these are the same folks who feared Clinton creating a police state.

It really makes no sense, although I admit I find it funny (and frustrating) to see people who are life-long conservatives backing issues that you know would turn their stomachs if done by the liberals.

On the left, we tend to be much less cohesive, and I think that too goes along with the progressive mindset. We tend to like being a loose confederation of individuals instead of the lockstep machine of conservatism. I also find it ironic when righties I know try to paint lefties as being some sort of uniform and uniformed extremists who wish to do away with individuality and the idea of reward for success and hard work. But again, this is just parroting what their leaders have said, and we've let them get away with it for too long.

shouting the loudest and wonder what is going on when they finally do realize what is going on or it effects them or their family in some way...
