Poll question: It's time to completely Boycott Hardball
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 09:17 PM by DainBramaged
Chris Matthews: 2005's Misinformer of the Year

http://mediamatters.org/items/200512230005

Time and again I've watched him since 1996 and have come to the conclusion he is nothing more than an RNC plant approved by GE. Now I understand why none of our voices will appear on his show, he is as unbalanced as FAUX. But what did me in was how proud he was of his brother running as a REPUBLICAN in a local election in Pennsylvania. God help those people.

His ratings are so poor he is no longer important. I can scream out of a bull horn on Eighth Avenue in NYC day or night and reach more people. He should just go to FAUX and sit across from Hannity and give Colmbs time off from the sludge.

I'm done with him. Off with his show forever.

I don't watch him anyway.

4. it's only effective if you cancel your cable
citing "Hardball."

No one will ever be aware of your boycott if you simply don't watch.

8. I disagree I email him all the time bitching at him for his lies
And twice I've dared him to read our criticism of him. If he thinks that it's ok to even lose one or two viewers with his shaky precipice, so be it.

I'll go kill myself. You can make a new on when I've gone.

7. Nothing perks me up like a hate Tweety thread
And I'm THRILLED to see media matters has hit him with this "award." I read every bit of it. I haven't watched him since before the end of the election of 2004-some of his tone and words about Kerry made me forever despise him-he was just sneering and awful. Rotten. Rotten to the core. I wonder if he ever reads just how despised he is. To swill such vile on an honorable man like Kerry and fawn over a empty suit like Bush says everything you need to know about Matthews.

13. He admitted he goes to cocktail parties with bush.
Tweety admits he gushed all over the dictator that night. If I were part of the established media/political noise machine I sure wouldnt be telling everyone. Tweety admits hes on that circuit. That circuit is why we have a media who allowed a war to go on without any questions. That circuit is why we have abugraib and torture. That circuit woiuld rather be nice to each other than to serve their watchers by being responsible ethical journalists. Instead we get Tweetys and Hannitys, and thats criminal

on the Plame scandal of any corporate media source. I find it odd that anyone would advocate missing that.

22. HARDBALL has the best plamegate coverage going
Edited on Wed Dec-28-05 08:31 AM by emulatorloo
Some DU'ers need to grow up and learn to use the fast forward button on their VCRs

Schuster's reporting is excellent.

Yes Tweety can be wrong headed and irritating. OTOH once he is "corrected" he can and will ask the right questions. Tweety will deflate a Bushbot like no other in corporate media.

25. Being upset that the
corporate media serves up some bullshit is like being upset that McDonald's serves what they claim are hamburgers. I think most people are able to recognize that Hardball will have some things that are pro-administration. I'm not sure that this is significantly different than Countdown having reports on Michael Jackson or Tom Cruise.

As you note, Schuster's reporting is excellent. Both Matthews and Schuster know the truth about the vice president's role in the Plame scandal. (MS)NBC's corporate heads and attorneys are not going to allow them to go too far in their reporting, despite the fact that DUers would love to see them go for it.

Any DUer who questions Matthews need only go so far as to read the first page in Joseph Wilson's book to find out what type of character Chris has.

Since I've never watched his show, or listened to what he had to say, "boycotting" him would be moot.

24. I watch Matthews everytime he's on ....
I refuse to boycott based on an irrelevant poll awarding a fictitious prize called misinformer of the year.
It's really tough for many wannabees to digest the fact that he's forgotten more about politics than most DUers know. If he had chosen to walk the strict DU line - which many here would prefer - he'd have been long gone by now.

I have especially been amazed at the DU praise heaped upon his sub, Mrs Greenspan. Now, there's a shadowy target!

I think the Dems get a good shake out of Matthews, moreso than from the other talking heads.
I don't believe he has any intention of trying to please democraticunderground, so the "misinformer" and this DU poll are just ramblings.
We continue to expect way too much from cable news and commentary. It isn't going to happen.

...O...
