2. Real simple reason. Criminals need to work all year. Hard to take
6 month vacations even as a crook - unless you're a congresscritter. Anyway, they can't work up North stealing and murdering and whatever because the weather is so bad in the winter. Hard to step on it in a get away car when the streets are frozen. Snow lets the police track them easily. Hard to pick a poket through a snow suit. So like all the Snow Birds, they come south to enjoy the sunshine and good weather.

12. i think very cold weather does keep the riff-raff away; i left FL for SD for
just that reason (couldn't stand the crime), and it is a lot better up there.

3. Hey! I Have A Site Dedicated to Blue vs. Red State Stats
www.blueworksbetter.com

Bottom line - red states really suck. It's pretty striking how different blue and red states are.

8. It's a permissive gun culture and a high rate of gun ownership
"Compared with other developed nations, the United States is unique in its high rates of both gun ownership and murder. Although widespread gun ownership does not have much effect on the overall crime rate, gun use does make criminal violence more lethal and has a unique capacity to terrorize the public. Gun crime accounts for most of the costs of gun violence in the United States, which are on the order of $100 billion per year."

9. How shocking the most neglected people have higher crime rates.
Where were the Democrats over the years when this was happening? They weren't campaigning or sending money to candidates in the red states. As far as I'm concerned, both parties share blame.
