Baptist pastor: "Boycott WalMart until it repents & returns to deep Christian roots"
Author of 1996 Disney Boycott Calls for Boycott of Wal Mart
Contact: Wiley Drake, 714-865-8132

BUENA PARK, Calif., Nov. 25 /Christian Newswire/ -- Dr. Wiley S. Drake Sr. pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park California, and newly elected 2nd Vice President of the Southern Baptist Convention, announced today that he is calling all people from all walks of life to boycott Wal Mart until the company repents and returns to the family roots put down deep by Christian businessman Sam Walton.

Drake said on his 63 birthday he sent the following letter to Lee Scott, President of Wal Mart:

Dear Mr. Scott,

Please accept my appreciation for Wal-Mart taking a stand to remain neutral in the cultural wars.

However as long as you are killing babies with your selling "Plan B" I will not return to your stores.

Also as long as you are still a member of the Homosexual Chamber of Commerce I will not return to your store.

I could go on but the list is long, and until Wal Mart Repents I will do all I can to keep people out of your stores.

I am pastor of First Southern Baptist Church of Buena Park California, and I am 2nd Vice President of the 16 million strong Southern Baptist Convention.

I am not speaking for my Church or my Denomination, but as the pastor, and member of my Church I do speak against you. I do not speak for the Southern Baptist Convention, but I do speak as a member against what you have done to my brother's company. Sam is a fine Christian, and now in Heaven, I'll see him again, and will be glad that I can say, I did all I could to bring WAL MART back to the Christian roots you planted.

Pastor Drake said I am asking all families to do what the Drake family is going to do. If only 5% of Wal Mart customers would stay out of their stores, and not spend with them what we spent last year it will cost them $200,000,000 dollars, and even to a giant like Wal Mart, that's a lot of money. The little guy and his family can make a difference.

Dr. Wiley S. Drake

A pastor lying like that. Shame!

4. But how many VOTERS do his opinions sway? Not many, I bet.
so the more his absurd message is spread, the better for him and the worse for us.

I vote that nobody promotes his bullshit.

15. It's a high dose of birth control pills
to be taken after unplanned sex. Taken early in the cycle, it prevents ovulation. Taken mid cycle, it prevents implantation. Its primary use is in PREVENTING ABORTION, so this pious idiot is lying and must love abortion.

5. I didn't know that Walmart sold Plan B.
Maybe they don't in my store since my state allows pharmacists to refuse to fill on religious grounds.

9. If the southern baptist "boycott" of Disney couldn't keep those yahoos...
from traveling to Orlando for a fleecing, I seriously doubt this boycott will keep them from patronizing their home-away-from-home Wal Mart

11. Walmart appeased the right wing
Edited on Sat Nov-25-06 08:25 PM by creeksneakers2
with Walmart's submission to the war on Christmas mass psychosis. Now the right knows Walmart is an easy target, and will never stop finding something to threaten a boycott about.

13. Too bad most of the religious reich helped kill small biz
Because they won't have access to any mom&pop stores in their area.

They support wallmart for years and now they are up shit creek.

Many liberals have that problem. They'd love to boycott WM, but can't because there isn't any other stores around.

Now, I'm lucky and have many other buying options. But I know people who don't have anyplace else to store without making a day trip.

18. He needs to repent, before he worrys about others
I'm on vacation right now. But when I get home, I think I'm going to work on a letter as to why I'm boycotting Southern Baptist Church. All the ways the leadership isn't following the path of Christ. I'll not be back, until they repent. And then send the letter to this fruit.

23. YEAH
because HE WANTS THE 200 Million BUCKS HIMSELF :)

Fuck him, a man of god he ain't, if anyone puts the hurt on Walmart I want it to be for their unprincipled use of HUMANS, not some morning after pill or the fact that Gay folks need socks too..

What an ass. May he have sex with his massage therapist and get caught - not that there's anything wrong with that, as Seinfeld would say :)

If he wanted to really fight them, he'd tell his flock not to WORK THERE.

28. Why do these whackjobs think
that anything founded by a person who was a Christian is a Christian entity? Wal-mart is not a Christian business nor was it founded to promote Christianity, it was founded to make money. And given the way it practices business and how filthy rich the Waltons are it has succeeded at that goal.
