Sound Familiar? A Distant Bell Perhaps?
when i first heard about this story regarding the russian spy, and the bombings in 1999 that he accused his government of conducting in order to turn the country against an "enemy," thereby leading the way to a war ("in order to divert Russia away from the path of democracy and towards dictatorship, militarism, and chauvinism")...i wondered who in our government had heard about this and thought: "damn! let's do it!"

background:
(LONDON - Alexander Litvinenko, a former Russian spy and vocal critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin, died Thursday night in a London hospital after being mysteriously poisoned.)
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/world/4356837.html

"Litvinenko co-authored a book in 2002 entitled "Blowing up Russia: Terror from Within", in which he alleged FSB agents co-ordinated apartment block bombings in Russia that killed more than 300 people in 1999."
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/L23411320.htm

(add another zero onto the number of people killed and we've got 9/11)

a review of the book on amazon says:
"The multiple apartment bombings which ripped across the country in 1999, killing hundreds, were more than suspicious. The 'terrorists' were condemned and the tragedies quickly used as an excuse to drag Russia into a second wretched war with Chechnya which continues to this day."

and

"As Russians celebrate their "freedom" with the shutdown of the independent press, and genocide committed in Chechnya on a daily basis, I have little doubt that the people of Russia are told they are "winning" the war on terror. When the next 9/11 or Madrid like bombings occur, one where all the "evidence" appears overwhelming and points in only one direction, and yet the enemy, elusive as ever and always just out of arms reach, is never caught or convicted, perhaps you will think to read this book.
