It's time we get SNOWE!
People this is ridiculous. She fooled a lot of people with her "Moderate pro-choice" stance. Even though she probably would vote against Alito, she still should have done everything she could have to stop him if she was truly pro choice. Right now the Democratic candidate is Jean Hay Bright.

Unfortunately she has not gotten any attention on any website and that should change. If there is a strong opponent against Chafee there should be a strong opponent against Snowe in 2006 and Collins in 2008. And for all you people that say why waste our time getting rid of a moderate when we can target other people, I hope today's vote changed your mind.

3. The Republicans always put party ahead of country.
Some of them are indeed moderate and take reasonable positions on things like choice, but when push comes to shove, they always back their party rather than their principles.

People on here often get hysterical over talk of a Democratic "purge", but the fact is that the Republicans did that with their party a long time ago, and it's worked out great for them. There was a time when there were truly independent Republicans who would vote their principles over their party but they are long gone. The Republicans even sacrificed seats to get rid of them when they had to, as they did when they threw Lowell Wiecker overboard in favor of Lieberman.

I don't want us to have a lockstep party the way they do, but we do need a far greater level of unity than what we have right now. We need to really begin thinking about replacing the Dems who don't vote like Dems.

4. The Alito cloture vote alone doesn't decide it for me. I have honestly
tried to like Senator Snowe and even took her side when Bush (Rove) ran public ads pressuring her, Chafee, and Voinovich to support the idiotic tax cuts.

But Snowe's accumulative effect on democracy is beginning to piss me off big time and I hope Ms. Bright kicks her fanny.
