Now is that a great background for a nationwide interview on MTP? Senator-elect Tester's very own farm kitchen in Big Sandy, MT. The only thing missing is a plate of biscuits. I'm beginning to really like this guy.

1. What's not to like? So far, he reminds me of the down-home,

laid-back, tough-as-nails when he needs to be, and soft-hearted farmer Jonathan Garvey from Little House on the Prairie.

Contrary to popular belief, even in the rural parts of Oklahoma there are many people who not only look like Jon Tester but believe the things he does. Looks like they're finally able to come out and vote their convictions.

6. But he is also smart, articulate and quite savvy. What a great combination!

I did study his kitchen quite a bit while watching MTP. :) They were both so genuine and intelligent -- hope they do not lose their "realness." Not being from Montana or Virginia, I was rooting for them mostly because they were Dems but am now discovering how much real heft and quality they both embody, and it's a joy.

and Gov. Brian Schweitzer is the one who should be showing the party how to get elected if only Carville would shut his yap and the DLC would back the hell off.

5. ya, I noticed that right away

It gav me the feeling i really like this guy. We are all so sick of the pompous slick politicians.

I do like what this man has to say though and I hope we get others like him to inject a little reality into the daily operations of the congress in general.

10. Kitchen = home & hearth

if you came to my house 95% of the time we would end up in the kitchen at the table. It is the center part of my house and as such life runs through it. I find people more willing to get comfortable when were sitting down having a cup of Joe.

I think he needs a pile of mail & the paper stuck in there someplace. Yup Sen. Tester is the "Real McDeal", what you see is what you get.

11. We do that too at my home. The only time I use the

dining room is for holiday meals when the whole family is here. We have a "living room" that never gets used. We split our time between the family room and the kitchen, but it is in the kitchen where all the important conversations are held and all the major decisions are made. It is the executive office of the house.

12. Modest Proposal:

Every Senator should be allowed (required?) to take a six-month sabbatical in middle of his term so that he can "return to the kitchen" and re-connect with the people who elected him.

You could tell it was really his kitchen, not a set. Obviously just been cleaned, and the fresh flowers positioned to add that extra touch.

I was impressed with what he had to say, too. But as a first impression, there is no beating having his interview in his very own kitchen.

16. Tester is the kind of yella-dog Dem that borne me, raised me,

and that I grew up around in Kansas and Montana.

We need the urbane Dems that understand the nuance, we need the Dems who get their hands dirty raising our food and laying bricks and who understand what the working person needs and wants. I fall right between both and appreciate both.

I'm damn impressed with our freshman class.
