Folding@Home: help find the cure
to many of humanities worst diseases. It doesn't take much effort. All you need to do it download the client. You can get it here:
http://folding.stanford.edu/

Read about the project and how the client works.

Once you have downloaded it, please join our team (#48157)

http://vspx27.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=48157

It's simple, secure, and will not harm or slow your computer. Some of us are busy and cannot volunteer to help our fellow citizens. Raising a family and paying that mortgage gets in the way. So here's a chance for you to help without having to sacrifice what little time and money you have for family.

Join us in helping others.

2. Thanks
Not sure if this thread will survive, but I hope it will last long enough to gain a couple new folders.

3. Thanks for this -
I sent an email to the Admins asking about how to join up and never heard back...

I'll look into it and see what I can do.

Question: Is it only able to use my computer when I have no programs open?

5. It runs in the background when you are using programs...
I've never found it to be a 'drag' on my system and my system is nothing special -- eMac

6. It adjusts its usage. The more work you are doing, the less
the client does.

Thanks for joining. Your name will appear on the DU team site when you complete your first Work Unit. (assuming you join the team.) You do not have to join a team if you don't want to. It makes no difference in the quanity or quality of the work done. The goal is helping unlock the secrets of protein folding.

12. One recommendation...
Shut it off when you're loading software, especially a big app. You can always turn it right back on afterwards.

I've been doing this for several months now and I haven't had any problems with it.

21. I never thought of that. Does it delay the launch of
large apps?
