Radio Interview Regarding Halliburton/KBR
Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 11:05 AM by CorpGovActivist
As soon as I know it's going to air, I'll post.

Edit added at 10:57. This just went out to my trusted MSM contacts:

Subject: Radio Interview to Air

From: [email protected]
Date: Fri, Nov 17, 2006 10:55 am
To: [email protected]
Cc:
Bcc: (redacted)

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Yesterday, Halliburton rammed through the KBR spinoff, to raise desperately-needed cash. Aiding and abetting this spinoff were:

1. BakerBotts LLP;
2. KPMG LLP;
3. The self-dealing underwriters;
4. The self-dealing analysts (who are likely going to find this IPO being cited on Capitol Hill as the poster child for the need for Sarbanes-Oxley II in the next Congress).

Earlier today, I gave a radio interview. As soon as I know the airtime, I'll let the journalists in the bcc: line of this e-mail know where to obtain the recording and/or transcript. Also, with the looming Thanksgiving holiday, just a reminder: I have a limited number of spots left for sit-down interviews before Wednesday.

The desperation of the Houston C-levels is transparent, and the Texas media outlets have been especially adept at staying ahead of this story. There is no Houston Mint - the Enronesque efforts of Halliburton to print money notwithstanding.

Cheers, and have a good weekend!

- David A. Smith, Editor of www.HALwhistleblowers.org (placeholder page up; full site coming soon)
(not to be confused, ever again, with David R. Smith, the as-yet-unindicted VP of Tax at Dresser Industries, and now at Halliburton)

Well, Halliburton C-level execs apparently want a legal fight. They're going to get what they asked for.

"can't wait for the interview - maybe today?"

*shrug* I never know for sure when a piece is going to air or appear. As soon as I do, I'll say so.

FYI, David now has a publicist, to handle the overflow of MSM interest. More on that later.

Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 12:38 PM by Minnesota_Lib
Be very careful as to not come off as a publicity hound to reporters. Nothing will turn them off and kill a story faster.

Of course, I am not saying Dave is (I am a big supporter of what Dave is doing), but reporters deal with self-promoters every day and some become really cynical in that regard...and that can kill their enthusiasm for a story no matter how valid it seems. So just be careful as to not give that false impression.

That said, GO DAVE!!!! I'll be following this all day and can't wait to hear ya. What station? Is it available on the net?

BTW, I have a radio voice...and face...as well. :toast:

Some reporters will miss the boat on this; that's to be expected.

google is so much fun!!
I couldn't remember what a periwinkle was so I did the google and found this.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periwinkle_(plant)

Which lead me to this:
Disambiguation in Wikipedia and other Wikimedia Foundation projects is the process of resolving ambiguity. The conflict occurs when a single term can be associated with more than one topic. In many cases, this word or phrase is the same natural title of more than one article.

"In phylogenetics, a group of organisms is said to be paraphyletic (Greek para = near and phyle = race) if the group contains its most recent common ancestor, but does not contain all the descendants of that ancestor....

'...Technically, in the original meaning of the words, a paraphyletic group is a monophyletic group from which one of the clades is excluded to form a separate group'

Edited on Fri Nov-17-06 02:28 PM by Blackhatjack
Scheduling and organizing contacts is being handled for Dave, and that helps prevent Dave from being exhausted by demands on his time. Also, a publicist gives inquirers someone they can speak with and learn when and where Dave may address issues.

I have seen publicists perform a valuable public service, and I have seen some publicist who are clearly out to maximize the dollar value of the principal's role.

I think as long as the media inquirers are able to speak directly to Dave, the chance that he will be associated with the latter will be small.

The whole point is to create a triage system, so that David doesn't get overwhelmed.

When I am unavailable, she'll be able to field calls and inquiries, triage them, and make sure that I know who to call back ASAP (e.g., which reporter is "on deadline" for an immediate piece, etc.).

She's a wonderful person, and I am the luckiest guy in the world to have friends like her.

74. We have about a 20 long hedge row
and it's waaaaay over grown and waaay too high to safely trim the tops on a ladder.

my partner attacks it with manicure scissor... I tend to be a bit more ruthless and want to chop 'em down to a reasonable height...

I keep telling her they are hardy and will grow back.. but every time I drag out the big clippers, saw and hedge shears she's right behind me telling me NOT to cut off too much.. :eyes:

with the problem with our knuckledragger neighbors (long story) - the hedges separate our property from the knuckledraggers for a short length... ennywhoo - I've been pushing to just take the hedges out and put up a 150ft freaking stockade fence.

I want to paint the side of the fence which faces the knuckledragger's house some garish eye-blistering colors. Serves two purposes - we don't have to see the knuckledragger and it give us more privacy

41. Well, it looks good. This is kind of like...
watching the snowball get bigger and bigger as it rolls down the hill toward Daffy Duck, right about the time he realizes it's coming and starts running.

51. Gotta Check ...
... out:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=looney+tunes+golden+collection

Volumes I and II are a riot, and bring back a lot of good memories (plus, more of the quadruple entendres are clear to me now, as an adult). Maybe if I'm good, I'll have III and IV in my stocking this year.

; )

Maybe if I'm really good, I'll get some time to watch them.

would have lost on purpose.lol
The last time I really wanted a drink was on Jan.19,2001.I just new that bush was gonna fuck up our country to the max.
The next morning, though, when I saw someone on holding a sign that said 'Hail to the Thief' on CNN I knew that:1. I wasn't the only one that knew what a disaster he would be. 2. That it was time to get off my ass and get 'political'.
Funny how I haven't wanted a drink since then.

time for a meetin'. catch y'all later.

My hope is to be able to do a call-in format, so that it's fully interactive.
