I thought Randi made an excellent point today (re: Pelois/Murtha)
Listening to Randi Rhodes' show today, I thought she made an excellent point about the Pelosi/Murtha/Hoyer situation.

Randi said she thought it was a brilliant move on the part of the Democrats, to select Hoyer.

She said she believes it showed that Democrats are committed to conducting oversight on themselves.

And she said it was almost as though the Democrats said to Nancy Pelosi 'just in case you get a little drunk with power; in case you go overboard, we have someone to reign you in.'

1. Yeah, there's something to that for me.
Malloy's hitting on a similar theme.

2. I saw a Republican analyst (color me shocked)
say that basically Pelosi handled it brilliantly.
She showed that she was willing to repay political favors with Murtha but when he lost, was gracious to the winner.
He said this was basically a non-story but the entire incident did not make her weak.

3. I heard that, too--if Pelosi backed Murtha purely out of loyalty

she must have expected to lose the vote. And for the press to jump all over it. And then to look like a great leader because the party united under her anyway. Karl Rove, move over!
